We would like to thank all who participated in PBR Ohio's 2019 Preseason All-State Showcase. This was a great opportunity for the class of 2019-2021 prospects to be put on MLB/College radars. Many players impressed during their individual workouts at the showcase.

2019 Preseason All-State 'An Amazing Event'

COLUMBUS - The opportunity to showcase their talent to major league scouts was given to 49 Ohio high school players. All but four have already made a college commitment, but the chance to get on MLB radars made the recent Ohio Preseason All-State Showcase special for all involved.

“It was an amazing event,” explained Brody Ware, a North Canton Hoover senior who has committed to Kent State. “There is nothing better than getting to compete with the best guys in the state in front of pro scouts. It’s like a dream come true. And to have it in a facility like the Bo Dome just made it that much better.”

The Arms

Ware did his part to impress scouts with an 89 mph fastball.

“Coming in I was a little nervous on what my velo was going to be but everything went great,” the 5-10 172-pound right-hander said. “My velos on all my pitches were right where i was hoping. Hitting 89 this early in my throwing process is the biggest take away from this event and hope to see more as the season furthers.”

Christian Lothes, who a week earlier shined at the Super 60 in front of a large group of pro scouts, recorded the top velo at 91.

“It was a very good and fun event to attend and I’m glad that I attended it,” said the Lakewood Hebron 6-2 207-pound senior left-hander who has signed with Charlotte.

Lefty Jay Luikart, a Jeromesville Hillsdale senior, tied Ware for the second best fastball at 89.

“This year was my second time attending the event and it was very well organized,” the 6-0 200-pound Wright State commit said. “ A highlight was getting to talk to and perform with some of the best talent in the state as well as getting to perform in front of the pro scouts that were there.”

In all there were eight hurlers reaching 87 or better including New Albany’s Jack Sokol, Bryan’s Benny Roebuck and Defiance’s Blayne Robinson at 88 and Elyria Catholic’s Jack Laird and New Albany’s Mike Sokol at 87.
