N TX FALL SCOUT TEAM DRAFT HISTORY
Max Semler, Prep Baseball Texas Scouting Director, takes a look at former players from the North Texas Fall Scout Team who have made it to the Major Leagues. Also noted are recently drafted players working their way up through the Minor Leagues.
I started the North Texas Fall Scout Team in 2013 when I was working as an Area Scout for the New York Mets, continuing to oversee the fall team for the next 10 years.
There are quite a few players who have made it to the Major Leagues who were asked to participate but declined the opportunity.
For those players who recently didn’t get asked to play, I can tell you there are quite a few players who weren’t asked who still made it. Use the lack of an invitation as motivation. I will be the first scout to tell you: scouts miss.
Since the start of the Fall Scout Team in 2013, with the first draft in 2014, the North Texas Fall Scout Team has had 31 players drafted in the top three rounds, either out of high school or college.
Both the North and South Fall Scout Teams offer valuable experiences and opportunities for players.
I apologize for any players I may have missed.
