ACG TRyout - Johnstone sports a wide, slightly open stance with his hands held up and away from his body. Uses a small leg lift for timing. Quiet swing and stance are Yelich-esque. Sprayed many low line drives to all fields with little backspin. Clean mechanics defensively and threw 78 mph from shortstop. Ran a 7.11 second 60 yard dash.

Positional Profile: MIF
Physical: 6-1, 195-pounds; 7.46 60-yard, max vertical jump – 23.9; Broad frame, wide shoulders, full with strength through core.
Offensively: LH. EV max – 92.7 mph, hand speed max – 21.9 mph, bat speed max – 69.6 mph; Deep in box with open stance with fairly wide feet, small load straight back as hands stay clear of body, able to work inside and through contact efficiently, small/minimal stride, able to serve and spray ball to oppo field while showing impact contact to pull side, quiet head, keeps hips behind the ball, consistently executed attack angle approach to get desired launch angle resulting in ball in the air, comfortable in the box and knows what he’s intent on doing.
Defensively: INF – 73 mph; Calm footwork, sets up to catch and get ball underway quickly, gains ground on ball while maintaining body control, throws lacked some carry and didn’t seem to be cutting it loose, soft hands with clean mechanics.

Body: 6-0, 180-pounds. Medium build with proportionate limbs. Athletic body with room to add mass.
Hit: Open stance. Simple, quiet load triggered by small leg lift. Hands create stretch as the launch begins and slot in nicely. Minimal weight shift. Showed the ability to adjust and get the barrel to different pitches. 
Power: Showed some power to the pull side with gap to gap power to the other way. Slightly above average bat speed with a peak exit velocity of 93 mph. Power will come with added mass and force production as the frame develops.
Arm: Short, efficient arm action that plays in the middle infield. Showcased the ability to throw from multiple slots. Topped at 80 mph across the diamond.
Defense: Above average rhythm and footwork in the IF. Quick lateral movement to both sides with  quality body control. Smooth actions with the glove and clean transfers.

Bay Area World Series 2022 - Uncommitted; Has budding strength on frame that has room for more size gains, in totality has game and talents to keep an eye on among 2024 LHH infielders, ran 7.18 60-yd, 80 mph SS arm, throws flash carry across diamond, sure hands, solid range and feet for SS, would fit well at 2B or 3B as well, competitive in his at-bats with some zone discipline and process to get to his tools, 91.2 max EV, 27% hard hit % (balls hit over 90 mph), outstanding 64% line drive %, definitely has feel for his swing and how to utilize in games, as he continues to gain size and strength the EV will go up and his ability to make impact contact should emerge in spring 2023 and beyond.

Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-11, 160-pounds. Young body with hints/glimpse of the body he's going to develop, longer legs, has width to shoulders.
Hit: LHH. Wider feet, slightly open to start, barrel tilted forward, relaxed back elbow, deep in box, small smooth stride, starts a bit on front side and stays there.  Smooth stroke, quiet head, some depth to load with some length into the zone, can spray though showed mostly a pullside approach, looks comfortable in the box with a confident approach.
Power: 81 max exit velocity
Arm: RH. INF - 73 mph. Loose arm, high-3/4 slot with ability to drop a little lower if necessary, got throws on the way well with accuracy.
Defense: Smooth feet, soft hands, clean mechanics with feet that are a little narrow at set-up to the ball and plays a little tall, flowed to the ball with rhythm, reads ball well.
Run: 7.87 runner in the 60.

Bay Area World Series Underclass (6/4/21-6/6/21)

Offensive notes: LHH: Wider stance, high hands with quiet and simple load. Controlled throughout allows him to stay compact and drive liners through the gaps staying focused on the middle of the field. Gap carry showed up with game swings and ability to find different contact points. Upside available on swing. 60-yard - 7.54 / EV mph - 88

Defensive notes: Played on time with higher hips and footwork that was controlled through the baseball. Glove flashed some good moves especially when on the move. Loose arm was consistent and accurate projecting more as he matures. Made some nice plays during games and showed true versatitlity at multiple spots. MIF mph - 74 mph

Positional Profile: 2B/SS
Body: 5-8, 140-pounds. Athletic, smaller frame, room and time to grow.
Hit: LHH. Slightly open to start with a quiet leg kick and level bat path.
Power: Topped 83 MPH Exit Velo via Trackman in BP. Power will come with size + mass.
Arm: RH. INF - 72 mph. Long, whippy arm in the INF that topped out at 72 MPH during defensive workout.
Defense: Quality movements around the IF showcasing solid footwork and rhythm.
Run: 7.59 runner in the 60.
