Bay Area World Series 2020 (BAWS) - Uncommitted; Lean/lithe bodied, flashes all the actions and glimpses of tools that should blossom w/continued strength gains. Run, throw, and EV numbers all show him on the fringe of avg to abv average tools. Competitive ABs, one to keep an eye on.

1/25/20

NorCal Preseason All-State: Riley has continued to add good strength to his long frame after opening eyes during the summer at the State Games. The athleticism is present, but still not 100% tapped into showing that there could be another jump in the near future. At the plate the loose, easy swing has the barrel following the shoulders allowing him to whip the barrel through extension. We’ve seen him be able to produce loud contact in games and that was the case with BP as well as he drove balls all around the field (89 EV). In the OF that athleticism shows up most consistently where he beats balls to their spots and works through it with a long loose arm; can shorten up the load on throws a bit to be more explosive, but he was regularly on the money to the bags (83 OF). Riley shows he’s always having fun while working hard and will be another one to watch over the next few years.

8/17/19

PBR CA STATE GAMES - Athletic, long and wiry-lean muscled frame with some twitch built to be in CF. Showed off the tools that could make big jumps and lead to him being a sought after OF. At the plate had a rough first day, but made adjustments in the second day and showed some juice in his bat with a long 2B 1-hopping the fence in RCF staying on a good breaking ball. Keeps hands tight to the body at the back shoulder with slight load back; keeps legs underneath him well and shows good snap from the hips. Barrel works flat through the zone with the ability to get more lift with flashes of leverage. Arm is loose and ball comes out of hand cleanly; uses his speed in CF being able to close on the baseball. Route running can get out of sync, but with his athletic ability and speed can make up for mistakes. A 2022 to watch.

1/13/19

PBR Central Valley Preseason ID - Long, lean and lanky build with a wide chest and sloped shoulders; projectable build that can add strength and muscle through maturity. Long legs move well with twitchy hips and shows good stride length (7.21 60-yd dash). Balanced stance with even hands and wide elbows as bat rest on the back shoulder; loads hands deep with a slight armbar as bat gets into good attack angle. Projectable bat speed as bat work on a slightly upward path with strong body rotations while keeping hands tight and utilizing lower half for success to pullside (80 exit velo). Loose and fluid in OF with strong angles to the ball; times where he uses extra steps to get his arm and body moving. Arm shows quickness from mid-¾ slow with some length through extension and life on throws; very projectable OF arm and body (81 mph).

7/26/18

NCTB underclass tourney - Hard working passionate type player, solid swing from the left side and he does really good on getting full extension to and through contact. A few quality at-bats and displayed both good contact skills and some potential to hit for some power down the road. Defensively he is very quick and covers a lot of ground in the outfield.
