9/28/19

Uncommitted - Six-foot-2, 175-pounds. Large, lean athletic frame with strength in the legs and through the squared shoulders. Arm is loose, easy, and compact from his drop-and-drive delivery through to his 3/4 slot and out front release point. Barajas shows excellent command of the strike zone with his easy, fluid delivery while using a short rotation to add deception. Pounded the fastball in on hitters to both sides of the plate inducing weak contact throughout his outing. Curveball was a tight spinning pitch that he commanded well with his easy, repeatable motion.

8/17/19

PBR CA STATE GAMES - Large, lean frame with current strength and length in the build. One of the better pitchers during the event going three innings with 5Ks and no hits/walks. Working from the stretch, the hands lift to the head as he stays tall over the rubber staying inline down the hill with easy controlled effort. Arm is compact swinging from the elbow getting to H-3/4 release and showing armspeed out front. FB 84-86 moving pitch to all spots and mixing in a two-seam with run on both sides of the plate; more velocity in there as he continues to strengthen and mature. SLD 72-77 late and tight with hard short 12/4 actions; strikeout pitch with lots of swing and miss and the ability to tilt the pitch flashing plus actions. CHG 80-81 used in lower half of zone with some bottom and hard actions. Very impressive arm that still has the ability to keep improving.

1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason I.D. - Lean 6-foot-0 160-pound streamlined body, easy fluid actions on mound, smooth delivery, calm easy backside arm action that is fairly shallow with some deception, good direction, slight cross body stride, good balance throughout delivery, keeps a still head, good finish to/through front side through deceleration, maintained stuff with slide step delivery, stuff was solid for mid-January, fastball (80-82 mph) with sneaky life, curveball was coming out a bit early (70-72 mph) and was fairly firm with lateral break that was slider-like, firm change-up (77-79 mph). Looks to have chance to have stuff elevate a bit during warmer spring weather.

8/18/18 - SoCal Underclass Games - Six-foot, 155-pounds, large frame, with proportional strength throughout. Much more physical development to be supported by that frame. Barajas has a deliberate delivery with a high left leg lift, a compact arm action through to ¾ arm slot release. Landing is inline and balanced and on the ball of his foot with the occasional flat foot landing. Arm is quick and effort is minimal. Really projects to throw much harder in the future. Easy and clean mechanics; repeats his smooth delivery consistently. Fastball flashes a hint of run to the arm side that gets on hitters in a hurry. Shows excellent command of the pitch along with feel for pitching and using the entire strike zone. Induced three swing-and-miss with an elevated fastball. Curveball shows late and he appears to throw two varieties of it, one an 11/5 shaped and another more of a slurve. Nevertheless, he was able to throw varieties for strikes while only one ball was put in play off it, a weak dribble past the mound that the shortstop field.
