6/26/19

PBR Bay Area Open - Strong-bodied rising senior. His 6-foot-1, 190-pound body has present strength, in particular a developed lower half. He uses that lower half well in his delivery, creating some good stability and working to provide power from the ground up. Gets unhinged from rubber well and footwork is quite good. He has a slight cross body stride and creates a bit of torque/leverage as he works toward release point, which is of the overhand slot variety. The arm action is fairly compact and with a little better direction and front side mechanics, the delivery should be repeatable. Three pitch repertoire, fastball (79-83, T85) with some life up in the zone. Pre-set grip on curveball (61-62 mph) allows for good feel for the pitch though the pre-set grip does take away some arm speed as he comes out of the glove and gets to release point. One of his last change-ups (72-75 mph) had some downward action and looked to be a usable third pitch, though will need to reach better extension.

6/26/19

Bay Area Open OF - Large frame showing proportional length with rolled shoulders showing width in the chest; strong body moves well once underway (7.87 60yd). Tall stance with narrow base keeping toes turned and even hands keeping a high back elbow. Hands pull back with front foot controlling some ground gain; strong ability to use his lower half and hit over a stiff front leg to help create leverage. Barrel has some length in the turn with hands having ability to get extension and make hard contact out in front of the plate keeping full finish with one hand (92 EV). Aggressive swing working gap-to-gap with lifted line drives showing the strength in his frame; extra-base power right now. Moves well in OF aggressive through the baseball blocking well with his front leg. Arm is compact to 3/4 release with good carry on the throw; aggressive with his arm willing to let it go (85 MPH). OF skills fit in corner profile with strength in the bat and powerful arm.
