Illinois-Springfield commit, ranked No. 57 in Illinois’ class of 2021. Listed 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, right-handed pitcher, strong lower half, wide-shoulders. Short, loose arm action, out of a high ¾ slot. Simple tall-and-fall delivery, smooth rhythm actions, works in-line with home, lands square. Polished pitcher, looks to control the zone and pitch, rather than blow hitters away. Created soft contact throughout his outing. Brouwer threw 75% strikes, on 79 pitches. Got the win going seven innings, scattering three hits, no earned runs, striking out nine with no walks. Featured a four-seam fastball, spotted up to both sides of the plate, held 83-85 mph and topped at 87 mph. 11/5 curveball, was his go-to secondary offering, flashing 12/6 at times with depth, sat 66-68 mph. Complemented his fastball and curveball with an arm-side changeup; flashed sink at times, sitting in the low 70s. Offensively, simple, balanced stance, minimal pre-pitch load, high leg kick. Compact swing, line drive type hitter, working gap-to-gap. Went 1-for-3 with a single to right center in the second inning.

CH: 71 mph. Near fastball arm speed, plays with sink.

Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 43 in the Illinois’ 2021 class. 6-foot-1, 175-pound, athletically-built, trim-waisted, right-handed pitcher. Has been having an impressive spring for Chicago Christian. Advanced presence and composure for age, works fast, pitches with a purpose and is constantly on the attack. Pounded the strike zone throughout his outing, throwing 74 pitches in his seven innings of work; 73% strikes. Athletic delivery, highly-repeatable, minimal wasted movement. Arm works loose, clean and extremely easy out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball comes out of the hand clean, works both sides of the plate, velocity plays up, sat 82-84 mph for most of the outing. Showed feel for a true three-pitch mix. Went primarily to the curveball against right-handed hitters and changeup against left-handed hitters. Changeup, slightly ahead of the breaking ball at this point, maintains arm speed, feel to the arm-side and late fade action, 73-75 mph. Curveball,11/5 shape, thrown for strikes in any count, occasional depth; could expand more with two strikes, 67-70 mph. Overall, impressive outing for a sophomore. Went seven innings, scattered nine hits, three runs, one earned, struck out three and did not walk a batter. Follow 2021 right-handed pitcher.

6-foot, 175-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic build, projects. Methodical tempo, up/down/out to home, short stride in-line to home, foot strikes even, stays over back side, higher front side, athletic finish. Arm plays loose and short, speeds up through a high ¾ slot after hand break, effort is easy. Fastball played straight in the strike zone, easy, sat 81-83 mph, topped 84 mph. Feel for changeup, sank nice off his fastball, 71-73 mph. Curveball, slurvy 10/4 shape, flashed depth, 64-70 mph.

1/21/19 - 6-foot, 190-pound right-handed pitcher, average frame, athletic build. Delivery is clean and easy, maintains balance and stays on line, high repeatability. Arm action is clean and loose, full arm circle, high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, occasional run to arm side, showed ability to command the fastball, jumps out of his hand at times, effortless velocity, 81-83 mph, touched 84 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, gradual action with feel for the zone, 64-68 mph. Changeup thrown with fastball arm speed, sinking action, occasional fade, 71-73 mph.
