RHP/INF Aiden Bernau (South Elgin, 2025) is a lean, athletic two-way player in the state’s sophomore class, and he showed well over the weekend on both sides of the ball. From the mound, Bernau sat in the low-80s (touched 82.6 mph) with a quick arm that leaves a high slot; fastball can jump through the zone with some natural arm-side life. He also has a firm changeup that he throws aggressively featuring similar run/fade as his fastball. Bernau’s breaking ball flashed some promise as well, a short-action type that flashed some bite beneath the zone.
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-3, 107-pounds. Wiry, projectable frame, high waist.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, pre-pitch load and short stride. Long, level path, uses the middle of the field, intentful swing.
Power: 81 max exit velocity, averaged 75 mph. 259’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Arm plays with loose action, operates into a 3/4 slot. Throws play with life across the diamond.
Defense: Clean footwork. Reliable glove plays with fluid hands and actions. Stays through the baseball.
Run: 7.52 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Controlled tempo into leg-lift, unloads down the mound with some pace, works in-line, athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH. Short out of the glove, transitions into a longer draw, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 81-82 mph. Some carry, plays in the top half of the zone T2094, 2001 average rpm.
CB: 69-70 mph. Tight, sharp 11/5 shape, maintains arm/hand speed. T1936, 1860 average rpm.
CH: 75-77 mph. Thrown with arm-speed, loose arm, fades under the zone. T1923, 1876 average rpm.

Delivery: Starts on the third-base side of the rubber, feet staggered with lead foot closer to first-base, drop and drive, strides in-line.
