6/23/15 - Physical 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame with advanced lower half and proportional strength. For his stature, he possesses athleticism (ran a 7.37 60) and surprising agility. Has shown significant improvements in the field over the course of a year, especially his lateral range and athleticism in the arm. Trela was clocked at 86 mph across the infield while showcasing soft hands and accurate throws on the move during the ProCase workout. Nevertheless, Trela’s calling card has always been his power right-handed bat, and he again showcased it during BP. He features strong hands and maintains excellent balance throughout his swing. His approach is quiet and simple, and generates natural lift in his swing while making consistent hard contact (registered a 96 mph exit velocity with wood at a past PBR event). Trela, who’s currently uncommitted, looks to be one of the top right-handed power bats in Illinois’ 2016 class.
6/18/15 - Physical, 6-foot-3, 205-pound third baseman, strong build. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, lower half works, good balance at contact. Fast, strong bat, repeatedly made hard contact. Path works slightly uphill, natural power swing, pullside/power type hitter. 96 mph exit velocity from the tee. Solid third baseman, strong arm with carry across (81 mph). Showed soft hands and agile feet for his size, plays athletically with body control. Ran a 7.37 in the 60, laser timed.
2.15.15 - 6-foot-3, 205-pound strong and physical right-handed hitting shortstop impressed with advanced bat speed, 96 mph exit velocity off the tee. Hits from a balanced setup, slightly closed, short stride, hands drop to load, long, level bat path, strength at contact, showed power potential, particularly to pull side during batting practice. Defensively, threw 84 mph across the diamond from shortstop from a long, over-the-top arm slot with carry and accuracy. Impressed with soft hands fielding the baseball out front. Physical frame may fit better at third base, but showed well in the middle infield. Ran a 7.52 60 yard dash.
8/8/12 Trela is a young infielder who threw it 71 across the diamond. He has a strong swing at the plate that shows power potential.
