Positioned behind three-year starting SS Joe Houlihan (now at Central Michigan) and All-State 2B Kevin DeFilippis (Notre Dame), Boggetto didn’t see much action for the Celtics during their Class 4A state runner-up finish. But over the summer, Boggetto proved to be a top-level defensive infielder, one who possesses quick, reliable hands and fluid footwork. In 35 at-bats last spring, he batted .286 with 23 runs, 1 homer and 7 RBI.
