McCormick

McCormick is a 6-foot, 180 pound loose moving athlete who started off his day by running a solid 7.11 seconds 60 yard dash. McCormick then showed what he can do with the bat with his loose, repeatable, swing with bat speed and feel for the barrel. McCormick had one of the best max exit velocities of the day at 95 mph and hit a ball over 360 feet showing how the ball jumps off his bat. On defense, McCormick shows quality actions, athleticism, and solid footwork to go with solid arm strength at 86 mph across the infield.

Hit: RHH. Stock set up slightly open.  Toe tap back, gets to strong hitting position, hammers ball to both gaps with well sequenced short and quick swing.

Arm: RH.  INF - 86 mph.  Long arm action, plays with occasional life, high 3/4 slot.
Defense: Steady actions, plays low to the ground, presents the glove and length through release.

Built with a projectable 6-foot, 175-pound frame, McCormick has room to add onto his already athletic build. His fastball sat right at 82-83 mph throughout his showing and played with heavy sinking action (T2231 RPM). His changeup paired nicely off his FB, fading late to his arm-side from a similar release height, 75-77 mph. He also showed a quality third offering with a sharp 11/5 curveball with tight shape, 68-72 mph (T2397 RPM). Offensively, he showed athletic loose hands from the right-side of the box and swung with controlled intent, uphill path and pull-side tendencies. Defensively, McCormick plays naturally through the baseball, showed an above-average glove-to-hand release and a strong arm that played with carry at 85 mph across the diamond.

Another name to show well on defense was INF Colin McCormick (New Trier, 2023). The 5-foot-11, 160-pound uncommitted junior showcased a loose, quick arm with easy action throughout. His throws across the diamond were on target with carry and his hands played soft on the infield.
