John A. Logan JC commit, currently ranked No. 53 in the Illinois’ 2019 class. 6-foot-4, 215-pound, broad-shouldered, strong, durable, right-handed pitcher. Continues to show he has one of the strongest arms in the class. Started on the mound and went six innings, scattering five hits, two runs, one earned, struck out 11 and walked one. Fastball jumps out of the hands, occasional arm-side-run, sat 90-92 mph, touching 93 once early on; settled in at 88-90 mph after the first couple of innings. Went to his slider early and often, maintains arm speed, thrown aggressively, 10/4 shape, late bite at times, 80-82 mph. Saw a couple of straight changeups at 84 mph.

John A. Logan JC commit. 6-foot-4, 201-pound, strong-bodied, right-handed pitcher. Continues to get better every time we see him. One of the harder throwers in the state. Came out of the bullpen and did not throw one fastball under 90 mph in his first inning of work; sat 90-92 mph, touching a couple 93’s. Second inning worked more in the 88-89 mph range. Fastball was around the plate, mostly straight, occasional arm-side-action. Went to his slider only a couple of times. Flashed one with late bite, 10/4 shape and swing-and-miss action, 84 mph. Did not allow a hit in his two innings and struck out five. Should draw some pro interest moving forward this spring.

3.16.18 - Currently ranked No. 84 in the Illinois 2019 class. Likely to climb in the rankings thanks to his recent performances. 6-foot-3, 205 pound, long-limbed, athletic build, right-handed pitcher. Plenty of room for continued physical development. In his first varsity start, Taylor finished with a line of: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 0 R, 6 K’s. Works with a slight drop and drive delivery, directionally in line, sturdy balance point with an athletic finish out front. Clean, loose arm action, quick arm speed on all pitches out of a high ¾ arm slot. Solid body control throughout delivery. Fastball had some tilt with arm side run, ranged 85-87 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, thrown firm with good arm action, 75-76 mph. Changeup faded in the zone, only thrown in warm ups.

2.18.18 - Taylor is a 6-foot-4 201-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2019 class.  Taylor is aggressive down the mound, stays in line, keeps shoulders level, high three quarters arm slot, quick arm speed, high number of strikes with fastball and breaking ball, fastball worked mostly 88-90 mph, down in zone, tight breaking 11-to-5 shaped breaking ball at 79-81 mph, late and sharp, looks to be a swing and miss pitch with depth, throws change up with fastball arm speed, 81-83 mph, consistently down, strong build with quick arm speed.

2.11.18 - 6-foot-3, 205-pound right-handed pitcher, lean gangly frame, loose and wiry build. Delivery works uptempo, slight drop and drive type, max effort. Arm action is loose and whippy, quick arm speed, high ¾ slot. Fastball showed run to arm side, 86-89 mph. Slider has sharp power action, plus potential pitch with feel, 79-82 mph. Changeup slightly fades to arm side, feel for the zone, near fastball arm speed.

6.27.17 - 6-foot-3, 205-pound, strong legs, right-handed pitcher. On the mound, long arm action, arm gets through quick, ¾ slot, some effort. Tall and fall delivery,  smooth rhythm, works on-line, lands square, finishes athletically. Fastball, late run and sink, 84-85 mph. Slider, 11/5 shape, tight, late action, fastball arm speed, commanded, 77-80 mph. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, arm side run, 75-79 mph.

2.19.17 - Taylor is a 6-foot-3 205-pound right-handed pitcher in Illinois’ 2019 class. Taylor has a strong build with no wasted movement in delivery, repeats release point, showed command of three pitches, in line and accelerated down the mound, athletic finish, fastball at 82-84 mph, occasional late run, breaking ball has slurve-type action, 10-to-4 shape, some flashing depth, late movement, 73-75 mph, change up at 75-78 mph, near fastball arm speed, slight arm side sink.

2.14.16 -Taylor is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher in the Illinois class of 2019. Attends Edwardsville HS. Quick, compact knee lift. Long, loose arm action. Fastball with arm-side run, sink when down, 78-81 mph. Knuckle-curveball with 11/5 shape, 71-74 mph. Change-up with run and sink, 68-72 mph. Class of 2019 righty with size and projection.
