6.6.17 - 6-foot-1, 200-pound, strong-bodied, two-way prospect. Offensively, balanced setup, leg-kick timing trigger and finishes off his backside. Loose hands creates easy bat speed and makes strong pull-side contact; 94 mph exit velocity from a tee. Path works long and uphill with fluid rhythm in swing. 93 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran a 4.76 home-to-first. Defensively, profiles as a corner infielder. Steady hands, quick release and throws from a low ¾ slot. Arm clocked at 73 mph across the infield. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, repeats delivery, stays on-line, short stride and lands slightly closed. Arm works, short and loose from a ¾ slot. Through a high volume of strikes and worked a quick inning. Fastball sat 81-82 mph. Mixed in a slider with sharp action at 72-75 mph.
2.19.17 - 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. On the mound works from a ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery with an upright finish and some effort. Throws a two seam and four seam fastball. Maxes out on four seamer and lacks command, more under control with two seamer at 81-83 mph. Curveball has 10-4 shape with sharp breaking action at 73-75 mph.
1.29.17 - 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed hitting 1B/RHP. At the plate hits from a tall setup with a leg kick stride. Pull, power hitter with a long, uphill swing path and fluid rhythm. Showed strength thru contact with 94 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.43 runner down the line. Defensively showed good footwork around the bag. Throws have carry across the infield throwing 80 mph. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long, loose arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball has sinking and running action at 82-83 mph. Throws curveball aggressively from a higher arm slot with 11-5 shape at 72-73 mph. Changeup blends with fastball at 79-80 mph.
1.31.16 - Strong, sturdy build 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. On the mound the right-hander flashed a quick arm with some rhythm throughout his delivery. Long arm action, high ¾ slot, some effort, in-line direction and square landing. Featured a 4-seam and 2-seam fastball. Both fastballs sat anywhere from 79-80 mph, touching 81 once with the 2-seam exhibiting heaviness and sink when down. Curveball showed some feel, could turn into a plus offering, sharp action, 11/5 shape and ranged between 71-74 mph. Honkala has a bright future on the mound. Offensively, showed strength in his swing with bat speed and some looseness. Balanced, closed setup, pre-pitch load, leg-kick timing trigger and some rhythm throughout. Gap-to-gap approach and level bat path through the hitting zone at times. Registered an exit velocity of 84 mph. Defensively, steady hands and moved well around the bag at first base. Loose arm action, ¾ slot and clocked at 73 mph across the diamond. Also, ran a 4.97 home-to-first.
