Murphy gave an intriguing look in front of our staff on Friday morning. Strong 6-foot, 185-pound frame that moves well on the mound. Clean, short arm action with acceleration out front. Mostly relied on a low-80s fastball that topped 82 mph and got swings and misses up in the zone. Flashed out-pitch potential with a low-70s curveball that forced weak contact.
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 5-11, 180-pounds. Proportional frame with room for added strength.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, short stride. Direct Swing, controls the barrel, line-drive approach.
Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 78 mph.
Arm: RH. OF - 85 mph. Loose, quick arm, high 3/4 slot
Defense: Active feet, plays through the ball with intent, sure-handed.
Run: 4.07 runner in the 30-yard split.
Delivery: Athletic mover, stretch only, high leg-kick into balance point, drop and drive lower-half with a long stride, stride works in-line to the plate.
Arm Action: RH. Short out of the glove into a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 80-83 mph. Life through the zone, mostly straight. T2055, 1959 average rpm.
CB: 66-68 mph. Sharp 11/5 action, depth with above-average spin. T2590, 2530 average rpm.
SL: 69-72 mph. 10/4 shape with developing spin. T2127, 2086 average rpm.
