Northern Illinois commit. 6-foot-2, 200-pound, right-handed hitting catcher, chiseled and strong frame. Advanced defensive abilities in all facets, feet work quick and clean, arm is quick and loose with carry to all bases. Blocked tough pitches in the dirt regularly in-game, controlled the pace and made mound visits when needed. Caught the only two base runners he could (lefty high leg kicks) on four attempts, 2.01 in-game pops. Showed wherewithal on a double steal, pivoting from third to second delivering a seed that was slightly high off the base, athletic baseball move.

4.20.18 - Uncommitted junior catcher, impressive build, chiseled 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, well-above average athlete. Arm is plus out of the crouch, gets easy carry, arm plays strong from multiple release points, carries and accurate, will show it off as a weapon to get cheap outs backdooring baserunners. 1.97-2.04 in game pops. Average receiver, actions and feel yet to be polished, however highly athletic, especially blocking the baseball. Right-handed hitter, above average bat speed, carries strength to the plate, hard contact off the bat, stays up the middle with approach, occasionally got big in hitter’s counts.

2.11.18 - 6-foot-1, 200-pound catcher, above average frame, strong and athletic. Defensively arm action is short, and over the top, carries well, 81 mph out of the crouch. Simple out of the chute, quick clean exchange, 1.93-2.01 pop times. Right-handed hitter, open stance, short and even stride, lower half works, excellent balance. Hands work loose and strong, short to the baseball, level path, line drive gap to gap guy, hard contact. 87 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.32 runner in the 60.

5.13.17 - 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting catcher, long, lean athletic build, wide shoulders with plenty of room for continued physical development. Currently ranked No. 85 in Illinois’ 2019 class. Defensively, has athletic feet and flexible hips, sits low, ranges with ease to both sides, blocks well, above average hands. Shows above-average arm strength, athletic arm action with some length, accurate thrower, 2.00-2.15 between innings. Offensively, looks comfortable in the box, hands set high, loose, athletic hands, generates bat speed with length in swing. In game, went 0-for-2 with a hit by pitch and squared a ball to centerfield. If Schroeder continues to grow into his frame and physically develops, he shows the potential of being a high-ceiling prospect in the coming years.

2.20.17 - 6-foot-1, 180-pound, lanky, athletically built with room to fill out, right-handed hitting catcher. Offensively, athletic approach, balanced, open setup, long stride, fluid rhythm, maintains balance throughout swing. Loose hands, generates bat speed, barrel stays flat through the zone, gets extension, recorded a 78 mph exit velocity. Defensively, over-the-top arm slot with short arm action, kept throws around the bag with carry, clocked at 74 mph out of the crouch. Soft blocker, receives the ball well, works on-line, clean footwork and exchanges, recorded pop times between 2.05-2.12. Ran a 7.24 laser-timed 60.
