6/18/15 - 6-foot-1, 185-pound two-way player, average athletic shape. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, good balance through impact. Compact approach with athletic hands. Showed bat speed on a short path, 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively arm played short and loose, high ¾ slot with accuracy across the infield, 80 mph across the diamond. 7.42 runner in the 60. Looked athletic on the mound, delivery is clean. Long arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 81-83 mph. Has feel for the curveball, 68-69 mph, 11/5 shape. Changeup sat 74-76 mph.

4.14.15 - 6-foot-1, 180-pound right-handed hitting RHP/3B ranked No. 108 in Illinois’ 2016 class. Athletic frame, replaced Jackson at third base, then on the mound. Fastball sat 82-84 mph from long, high ¾ arm slot, closes off shoulders at balance point, works across body, impressed with ability to throw big breaking curveball (66-70 mph) for strikes in any count. Showed soft hands defensively at third base, fielded three chances cleanly. Hits from balanced crouch setup, showed bat speed, lined out hard to third base in second at bat, quiet approach, short path, noticeable bat speed. Garella is a prospect to follow in the 2016 class.

10.19.14 - 6-foot-1, 175-pound athletic right-handed hitting shortstop currently ranked No. 86 in Illinois’ 2016 class. Hits from a balanced setup, slightly crouched, hands are quiet, load smoothly, short stride, short, level bat path produced line drives from gap-to-gap with backspin, 85 mph exit velocity. Defensively, threw 81 mph across the diamond from short, high ¾ arm slot with carry and accuracy. Showcased soft hands fielding, fluid footwork, plays through the baseball. Ran a 7.4 60.
10/27/13 - 6-foot-1, 170-pound two-way player who projects well as a pitcher. On the mound he has a tall and fall delivery with regular effort, rhythm, and clean lines. Arm works from a high ¾ slot, wraps, quick acceleration projects more velocity in the future. Fastball was straight, sitting 77-80 mph, touching 81 mph. Showed feel for the curveball, 11/5 shape, sharp action, quality depth, 66-68 mph. Changeup was straight, 75-78 mph. At the plate he has a balanced stance, no load, short stride, quality balance through contact. Swing is short, level, sprays to all fields, solid extension, fluid rhythm. Exit velocity was above average at 81 mph off a tee. Defensively arm works long, from high ¾ slot, 79 mph across the diamond. Ran a 7.62 60.
4/25/13 - Athletically built 6-foot-1, 163-pound freshman. Already making impact on varsity; hits in 7 hole; shows athletic arm from outfield; moves well and confidently. Coach said he’s a natural infielder, but picked position up without hitch this season. High-follow prospect in future.

10-3-2018: Strong, athletic build at six-foot-one, 195 pounds Garella led the Billikens in batting average last spring at .352. Tended to bury his hands and get pushy at the plate for more bat strength than bat speed. Used all fields with lineouts to both RF and SS. Struck out twice, once on a fastball, the other on a back foot slider. Average runner underway with near average arm from right outfield. Overall, a well-rounded balance of tools with athleticism. Garella should attract interest from pro scouts this spring. (Seifert)
