MIF Kameron Cox (Montini, 2028) looked to be one of the more interesting infield follows on the day. At the plate, the right-handed hitter took a quality round with polish and feel to use the whole field, looking to stay on top of the baseball and keep it on a line (T91 mph EV). Defensively, Cox continues to look the part for our staff. An athletic mover with a confident glove and rangy actions, he looks like he could stick up the middle for years to come.
9/20/24
Cox would have a quality showing on Saturday, as the Top Tier shortstop would go 3-for-4 with a double & two runs scored. A recent attendee of the 2024 Junior Future Games, Cox would continue to show a collection of tools that leave him as a must-follow in the emerging 2028 class. The Montini Catholic product’s gameplay is highlighted by a confident presence on the diamond. His advanced instincts and baseball IQ translated on both sides of the ball, with his baserunning aggressiveness & awareness standing out. Defensively, he showed bouncy, athletic actions on the dirt with fluid footwork. At the plate, the right-handed hitter presents a slightly open setup, crouched into his legs before launching back to an even position that allows him to stay athletic throughout his swing with a line drive approach. Athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame.

MIF Kameron Cox (Montini) will be a name to follow throughout his prep career. The right-handed hitter has a simple swing that works to stay up the middle of the field with a flat path. He’s a natural defender on the dirt, boasting soft hands, fluid footwork and athletic actions. His arm plays well across the diamond too, showing the ability to deliver accurate strikes on the move and from multiple angles.

Cox, exhibiting a proportionally athletic 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame, had several productive and clutch at-bats going 2-for-3 with a triple, walk, and two RBI pull-side single out of the leadoff spot in Top Tier Americans’ 15-7 victory Thursday. Offensively, he showcased game altering plate discipline and gap to gap power. Mechanically, displayed a quarter turn open stance, medium leg kick, forceful hip torque, connected back arm, and steady head at the point of contact. Defensively, he has soft hands, above average arm side range, and a positive feel for flip and footwork speeds on double plays. An overall impressive set of skills with room for further development.
