2/17/13 - Athletic build, shows some strength, body still shows projection, 5-foot-11, 170-pound switch hitting middle infielder. Feet work well, shows athleticism, 6.94 60. Defensively shows an advanced prowess with the glove, confident fielder. Soft hands, excellent body control, highly athletic defensive actions. Arm works well across the diamond, shows carry, stays true to target, 85 mph arm strength across infield. Offensively hits from both sides of the plate. Hits from an open stance, short stride. Bat speed is present, hands work well from both sides. Right handed, pull side approach, slightly more pop. Left handed swing shows good balance, works the middle of the field well. High level middle infield prospect.
Rahman Williams, a Class of 2014 middle infielder from Morgan Park HS, is an athletic talent who will be a player to watch as he develops physically. The switch-hitting Williams was equally impressive from both sides of the plate. Williams showcased a slightly open setup with good rhythm and balance throughout his swing. Williams' balanced swing translated into consistently hitting line drives. In the field, the 5-foot-9, 160-pound athlete moved exceptionally well, and displayed top-level actions and soft hands. Rahman's foot speed was also on display when he ran a 7.14 60.
1/22/12 Defensively, Williams stood above the pack as the top middle infielder at the PBR Underclass Invitational. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Williams features superbly soft hands, advanced footwork and natural middle infield actions. He plays through the ball exceptionally well, and effortlessly zipped the ball across the infield at 81 mph. Offensively, Williams is a switch-hitter who demonstrated solid mechanics and bat speed from both sides of the plate. He remains balanced throughout his swing and flashed some power potential. His hands work well as he stayed behind the ball as he drove the ball with some loft and carry. In all, Williams looks to be one of the premier middle infield prospects in the Class of 2014. Also, Williams ran a 7.57 60.
