Morgan Park SS Rahman Williams picks his school

Nearly three weeks after Rahman Williams put on a show at the Illinois Preseason All-State Showcase, the switch-hitting shortstop from Morgan Park HS verbally committed to the University of Michigan.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Williams is currently ranked No. 7 in Illinois’ Class of 2014 and No. 25 overall. Williams showed at the Preseason All-State Showcase a quick, quiet and repeatable swing from both sides of the plate.

Defensively, Williams was without peer at the Illinois Preseason All-State Showcase, or any other 2014 showcase I attended this winter. The basics were plain to see – arm, feet, hands. Williams has plenty of arm; he was clocked at 85 across the infield. He also ran a 6.94 60.

With Williams off the board, only one top 10 2014 prospect in Illinois remains uncommitted: OF/LHP Darius Day (Simeon HS). A look at Illinois’ top 10 prospects and their college commitments:
