Illinois commit, has added a bunch of strength throughout his compact 5-foot-9, 160-pound frame and has turned himself into one of the better right-handed bats in the Illinois' 2021 class. Confident look in the box, tracks pitches well, consistently on time and hunts the fastball. Short and direct to the baseball, advanced bat-to-ball skills and made a bunch of hard contact back up the middle of the field throughout the weekend. Finished 4-for-11 with a double, three walks and four runs scored.

Showed his toughness by taking a pitch to the helmet during his second at-bat of the ProCase and wanted to stay in the game. The 5-foot-9, 160-pounder isn’t flashy, but is very competitive and has a polished game, both on the dirt and in the batter’s box. After running a 6.77 sixty with moderate effort, the sure-handed defender showed an average arm (80 mph across the infield) with athletic actions and strong body control. He plays through ball well. In the batter’s box, Moerman has simple, compact swing and uses all fields. With modest power (95.3 mph max EV during BP) his bat control, loose barrel and easy to repeat swing should set him apart from most others at the collegiate level. Blast metrics liked his rotational acceleration (20.2 g) and peak hand speed of 22.1 mph.

Hard-nosed, competitive player who’s always looking to take the extra base. Led the game off with a sharp single to center, promptly stole second, and scored on a wild pitch an at-bat later. Defensively, natural actions to both forehand and backhand. Hands are soft and clean, especially for age. Above-average body control with an arm that showed carry. From the batter’s box, is looking to get on base any way possible, middle-of-the-field approach, selective, advanced knowledge of the zone.

Verbally committed to Illinois.

Those schools looking for a shortstop to follow over the next few years might want to take a look at Moerman. The 5-foot-9, 160-pounder has natural actions in the field, and plays with a great deal of confidence. He will definitely be a player that I will be locked in on the rest of the weekend.

Throws topped at 77 mph across the diamond. At the plate, balanced setup, smooth load, short toe-tap trigger. Loose hands, consistently finds the barrel, left in swing and gap-to-gap approach. Registered an 82 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran a 7.78 laser timed 60 yard dash. High-follow 2021 prospect.

2017 Junior Future Games - Fast-twitched, two-way player, with compact, athletic frame. Defensively, advanced actions, active feet, soft hands, arm strength, and possesses feel for playing the left-side of the infield. Offensively, balanced set-up, confident approach, short compact swing with level path, 82 mph exit velocity. Made consistent hard contact in multiple games.

Right-handed two-way prospect. On the mound, short, quick arm action, fastball sat 77-78 mph. Offensively, hits from a balanced setup, slight crouch and open. Flashed bat speed with the ability to find barrel.  Hit a homerun to left-center and had a walk-off RBI single. Defensively, played shortstop, smooth defender, natural infield actions, accurate, athletic arm action.

3.5.17 - 5-foot-4, 130 pound, middle infielder and right-handed pitcher. Athletic defensively, soft hands with a quick and clean exchange. Transfers the ball and fields his backhand well. Flashed a short, loose arm action from a ¾-to-low ¾ arm slot, clocked at 71 mph across the infield. Offensively sets up wide and closed, small load back, double taps stride, early rhythm. Generates average bat speed with an uphill barrel path resulting in an exit velocity of 85 mph. 7.81 laser-timed 60. Tall and fall delivery off the mound, works on line with an athletic squared landing. Throws from a high ¾ angle with short action. Straight fastball with occasional sinking action, controlled the lower half of the zone at 73-74 mph. Curveball showed a slight 10/4 break at 65-67 mph. Controlled changeup at near fastball arm speed, with sink and occasional arm side run, clocked at 66-68.
