The Northern Illinois commit fits the trend of impressive two-way contributors, as he dominated on both sides of the ball for Shelbyville this past season. A unanimous First Team All-Conference selection, Brachbill broke the school season and career strikeouts record, career wins record, and career ERA record. In 49.2 innings, the right-hander collected an 8-1 record with 104 strikeouts, 10 walks, a 0.85 ERA and WHIP of 0.62 - also firing four complete games with one perfect game and a 20 strikeout game. At the plate, he hit his way to a .472 average in 89 at-bats with two home runs, two triples, 11 doubles, 22 RBIs, 40 runs scored, an OBP of .588, SLG % of .708, OPS of 1.296 and 19 stolen bases.

Illinois-Springfield signee. 6-foot-1, 155-pound lean, athletic frame with plenty of room for future physical development. Took the mound for the Rams in a conference game against the Cardinals, punching out six over four innings of work. Simple mover, gets onto his backside and creates forward momentum downhill, stays connected with the rubber to front footstrike, strong front side, finishes with intent onto a stable lead leg. Fast, athletic arm finished out of a clean, projectable high ¾ slot. Fastball touched 92 in the second, held 88-91 mph throughout. Flashed backspin and life up in the zone from a four-seam grip. Turned to a more two-seam type positioning to create hard run and turbo sink at times. Confidence and conviction to spin a power breaking ball at 77-79 mph that showed sharp downer action with bite. Capable of landing it for strikes, also earned plenty of whiffs in this look. Tripled and homered at the plate, hitting out of the leadoff spot. Looks the part of a high-end arm that’ll likely draw professional interest after college.
