4.13.16 - Missouri State commit, ranked No. 22 in the Illinois’ 2016 class, No. 281 overall. 6-foot-5, 190-pound, athletic, projectable, long and lean right-handed pitcher. One of the more projectable right-handed arms in the 2016 class with potential starter stuff at the next level. Delivery is clean, athletic and repeatable with rhythm. Long and loose arm action out of a high ¾ window; gets extension out front, utilizing his 6-foot-5 frame and getting downhill angle on all of his pitches. Pounded the zone with his fastball, arm-side-run and sink action when down in the zone, 85-89 mph, throughout; topped at 90 mph in the second inning. Maintained velocity late into the game and out of the stretch. Slider, has confidence in it, thrown aggressively, strikeout pitch; sharp, late action, 10/4 shape and clocked at 79-82 mph. Flashed a couple of breaking balls with curveball action at 75-76 mph. Changeup, developed better feel as the outing progressed, fade action, 77-82 mph. Also, hits three-hole in the Waterloo lineup. Ran a 4.11 down the line on an infield single. Overall, athletic, projectable right-hander with a high ceiling. Final Line: 5IP, 2H, 0R, 5K, 1BB.

8.1.14 - McAlister boasts a plus, projectable frame at 6-foot-4, 175-pounds.  His fastball sat 83-85 mph over his two outings, but what’s really intriguing is the hard 75-76 mph slider he breaks off, which could bode well for a velocity spike in his future.  He also hit in game two, going 1-for-3 with a line drive single past the shortstop on a hanging breaking ball.  He promptly stole second base, showing off his athleticism.

7.9.14 - 6-foot-4, 175-pound lanky, athletic, right-handed pitcher impressed with easy, loose arm action and feel for four pitches.  Currently ranked No. 38 in Illinois’ 2016 class.  Works from a long, high ¾ arm slot, with a slight wrap in back, but still shows the ability to get extension out front, especially with his two breaking balls.  Utilizes tall-and-fall delivery, with level shoulders, foot below knee at load over the rubber, throwing slightly across his body landing slightly closed on front foot.  Works from the extreme first base side of the rubber, so his direction towards home plate stays in line.  Lively fastball sat 84-85 mph with run to his arm side, and cut to his glove side, most likely not on purpose.  Threw both a curveball and slider with similar shape.  Curveball showed 12-6 action at 70-71 mph, slider was slightly harder at 71-73 mph, both showing downward action.  Slows arm and body tempo slightly on 71-73 mph changeup for strikes.  McAlister has a high ceiling, projectable build, and is a high level prospect to watch closely over the next two years.
