Xavier commit. Currently ranked No. 133 in the state. 6-foot-5, 195-pound frame, long and lanky frame with plenty of room to fill out. Kruse creates a tough look for opposing hitters thanks to his low ¾ release. He worked a sinking fastball in the 79-83 mph range to pair off a low 70s curveball with 1/7 action.
LHP Wilson Kruse (Oak Park-River Forest, 2024) provided us quite the upside look at Sunday’s event, standing at a lanky, thin-levered 6-foot-4, 180-pound frame. Kruse controls his body well downhill for his age and stature, while his arm played loose on the backside with easy rhythm through release. Kruse’s fastball played with natural cutting action created by his finger placement on the seams, topping at 83 mph while sitting in the 80-82 mph range throughout. Though still developing feel for his secondaries, Kruse has jumped onto our prospect radar after a promising showing in his PBR debut.
Positional Profile: LHP/1B
Body: 6-4, 180-pounds. High upside frame.
Delivery: Deliberate tempo down the mound, controlled leg-kick into balance point, tall/fall operation down the mound, remains in-line with the plate with a square landing foot.
Arm Action: LH. Long arm out of the glove into a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T83, 79.5-81.5 mph. Plays with some tilt through the zone. T1821, 1742 average rpm.
CB: 62.6-64.4 mph. Gradual 1/7 shape with depth. T1776, 1635 average rpm.
CH: 70.8-71.7 mph. Plays with fading action to the arm-side. T1538, 1383 average rpm.
