Second Look : My second look on Barr was not as impressive as the first, but still good undoubtedly. The 6-foot-2 southpaw came out with an electric first, sitting 93-94 and touching 95 with a heater that flashed big ride at times. He showed more of his 78-81 change in this look, dropping slot on it with average action. His low-70s curveball played with big depth and works well with the high-ride heater. His velocity dropped to 90-92 quickly and was down to 86-90 in his final frame, and the CB velocity fell with it. In total, the effort within the delivery leads me to a relievers' profile, but the movement patterns and projectability also offer arguably the highest ceiling of any left-hander in our 2025 class.

I love the growth that Alex Barr showed at the Preseason All-State. Now standing at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds with a leaner, more athletic look - Barr peppered the zone with a heavy, 92-93, touching 93.7 mph fastball. Coming from a an over-the-top slot that allows the fastball to work downhill, Barr complimented the heater with two distinct breaking balls that showed differing properties. The curveball, his traditonal out-pitch, showed two-plane shape at 72-74 mph. The Indiana recruit has added a firm slider to his arsenal, as well, spinning it at 78-82 with up to 15" of horizontal and minimal depth, showing true sweeper properties. The added velocity + slider adds excitement to his arsenal, and Barr moves exceptionally well within the delivery with mobile hips that suggest even more growth can be had.

‘25 LHP Alex Barr (Canes Midwest National) - Indiana recruit. Sturdy, 6-foot-2, 215 pound southpaw. Tall inward turn at the top of the lift, swings to square. Mobile hips allow for a well-sequenced delivery. Ball jumps out of the hand - fastball worked 85-87 T 88 mph with carry to get above barrels. Big, 1/7 shape on the breaking ball, shows sharp bite, future out-pitch.

Position Profile: LHP
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds. Sturdy build
Hit: LHH. Slow-tempo, toe tap to gather - from there uses a small leg kick combined with a lower hand load. Long, uphill swing. Looks to leverage the ball out front - pullside approach.
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 92.1 mph. 345' max distance.
Arm: LH.
Defense:
Run: 8.30 runner in the 60.

Position Profile: LHP
Body: 6-0, 185-pounds. Sturdy build
Delivery: Back foot preset to lift - tall, inward turn at the top of the balance point, holds back hip well as he moves down the mound. Aggressive intent. Upright landing
Arm Action: LH. Moderate arm action from a H 3/4 / OTT slot. More arm strength than arm speed
FB: T89, 88-89 mph. Mostly in the zone - has life T2123, 2026 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. Feel for CB - shows 1/7 action w/ outstandind depth T2274, 2228 average rpm.
