8/15/22

Cape Cod: Boasted a strong lower half, generating an 88-89 mph fastball with good angle out of an over-the-top slot. His curve flashed good depth at 75-77 mph and was the better of the two offerings, with the heater catching too many barrels in the zone.

6/11/19

6-foot-4, 185-pound RHP. Hides the ball well; has a short arm action; shows a live arm; locates well on both sides of the plate. Has depth on off speed low in the zone; 73-74 mph CB; 77-78 mph CH; stays on top of FB; 83-84 mph FB; shows the ability to control all pitches.

4/04/19

Spring Scout Blog: 6-foot-4, 185 pound uncommitted RHP. Klein continues to develop a pitcher's physique and brought recent showcase velocity to a game mound opening night at home.  Righty throws from the 3/4 slot with good quick arm rotation that can be short in back. Fastball had some run action 83-85 on the night touching 86 a couple times in the first two frames. Curveball was down in the zone and a mixed in some tight movement. Slider was better, but the two pitches did display similar shapes at times. Both caused swings and misses from good opposing hitters. As discussed in a winter showcase, projectable velocity increases will likely be seen this season.

2/16/19

6 foot 4, 185 pounds, throws from a mid ¾ slot with a good front side and shows arm quickness with all of his pitches. Showed a FB with arm side action that sat 84-85 with average effort.  Curveball had good 11/5 short down action and sat 70-74, and Slider was shorter and tighter version of the CB and sat 78-79. Changeup showed a little sink when down and sat 78-79. More velocity in the tank for this projectable RHP.

6/12/18

Pitches from high ¾ arm slot. Arm stroke is short and quick. Tall and fall type delivery to the plate. Did tend to fly open at times on front side causing him to fall off to 1B side. FB sat 80-82 and he also mixed in an up and down CB for strikes with gradual break at 70-72. CH showed some action at 75-78.

2/24/18

6-foot-3, 175 pound pitcher sat 80-81, topping 82.  Athletic arm with some looseness.  Good tempo, pace down the mound.  Fastball has some arm side run.  Breaking ball has sharp, late break up to 74mph.  Inconsistent at times.  Potential out pitch.  Defensively, he has sure hands with clean, quick exchange.  Plays through the ball.  Some lateral quickness.  Throws topped 82 across.  Hits from a balanced setup with short stride.  Average balance.  Above average bat speed.  Line drive approach. Flat path.  High exit velocity of 83.

10/14/17

Lanky, loose, 6-foot-3, 160 pounds. On the mound, quick tempo with easy effort, arm works loose and long. Showed balance with good direction, landing square. Fastball was around the strike zone, sat 78-80, topping at 81. Curveball was thrown 65-68 with 10/4 break, some gradual downward action, pitch has a chance to be good with more arm speed. Changeup was 71-72 and straight. Loose, raw actions on the diamond, projects more velo and strength. 60 Time: 7.72, Position Velocity: INF-79, Exit Velocity: 84. Lanky, loose, 6-foot-3, 160 pound shortstop works from a tall setup at the plate, raw bat speed and swing. Long limbs with more strength to be added, uses short and simple lift and stride to swing. Hands load to strong position, easy bat speed and effort to swing with upper half. Lower half is stiff, partial rotation through swing. Pull side approach, long level extension through the swing. Loose, athletic instincts in the field, with average fluid footwork to throw. Fields baseball with one hand, sure hands to field. Plays well through the baseball with athletic actions to throw, easy arm strength, more to be developed in next two years.
