5/10/23

The Tiger senior projects to be one of the first fourth-year players selected this summer. Ware transferred to Auburn from Pearl River JC (Miss.) after the covid-shortened 2020 season when he ranked as our No. 13 overall JC prospect prior to the 2020 MLB Draft. Very few JC transfers transition immediately to the D1 four-year level, and fewer yet do so in the SEC. Some others may take 100 at-bats to get adjusted, while many others never do. After two mostly unproductive seasons at Auburn (.254/.344/.442 as a sophomore and .234/.336/.394 as a junior) Ware was about to fall into the latter. However, this season he has shown incredible improvement. His physical tools have always been pro-caliber (60 arm, 60 raw power, 50 defender, 50 runner underway), but everything he did was longer-actioned, including his swing. However, he’s reworked his swing into a much more compact stroke resulting in much less swing/miss (34% last season to 17% this spring) and the production has followed (.348/.437/.736, 19 HR). He has also transitioned from right field to the hot corner this spring and held his own with eight errors in 107 chances. Look for Ware to come off the board around the 5th round.

Rising Hitter: The only senior on this list, Ware transferred to Auburn from Pearl River JC (Miss.) after the covid-shortened 2020 season when he ranked as the  No. 13 overall JC prospect prior to the 2020 MLB Draft. Very few JC transfers transition immediately to the D1 four-year level, and fewer yet do so in the SEC. Some others may take 100 at-bats to get adjusted, while many others never do. After two mostly unproductive seasons at Auburn Ware was about to fall into the latter, but this season has shown incredible improvement and aptitude. His tools have always been above average, but everything he did was longer-actioned, including his swing. However, he’s reworked his swing into a much more compact stroke and the production has followed (.391/.466/.864, 14 HR). With continued success this season, Ware will likely be one of the first seniors off the board this July.

1/28/18

A projectable, high-waisted, long-limb frame at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. Showed smooth actions with soft hands on the infield with athletic footwork throwing from a short over-top arm slot recording a max velocity of 84 mph across the diamond.

5/16/17

Long, athletic 6-foot-1, 165-pound frame. Solid defender with soft hands, solid footwork and quick, clean exchanges. Short arm action into high-3/4 release with carry and accuracy on throws. Right-handed hitter, hits from tall, balanced setup, simple load, short stride.  Short swing, with gap-to-gap approach, solid bat speed and developing strength.
