7/21/20

5’11, 165-pound middle infielder improved his exit velocity and IF arm strength by a tick since we last saw him earlier this year.  Medium, athletic frame w/ high-waist, projectable.  Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into stride to slightly open and short hand load.  Pull oriented approach.  Learning to stay through the ball with his lower half in game, does a better job of it in BP, where he showcases a gap to gap line drive approach.  Projectable gap power type.  Defensively, shows solid footwork w/ ok hands and projectable carry to target arm strength. On the mound, the right pitched from a wind-up into H ¾ to OTT release.  Clean, repeatable mechanics, falls off slightly to the first base side – occasionally over-rotates and gets off direction.  Straight FB shows occasional short cut.  Medium downer CB w/ proper shape and rotation.  CH w/ arm-speed, short fade and sink.  Around the zone, showed feel for locating the curveball. Projects to command.

1/18/20

5-Foot-10, 130-Pound frame, long levers with room for added strength, Offensively; open set, simple load simple stride, repeats swing, short stroke, backside slight raise to contact, stable in ground to contact, flat finish, long extension, barrel works to pull side, linear wing, 80 mph exit velo, Defensively; active feet, fingers down to field, slightly deep field, funnel to midline, aggressive shuffle, short stroke, above average carry, 75 mph arm strength. Pitching: high ¾ slot. Quick arm speed, long arm action, good balance point, easy effort, low front side, slow tempo, run away arm, even land, spin front foot at release, fastball 73-75 mph, cur and sink at plate, curveball 61-62 mph, rolls out of hand, 10-4 shape, slider 66-67 mph, cutter type, missed down in zone, change up 62-66 mph, near fastball arm speed, arm side run early.

11/10/19

On the mound the arm works very well from a high ¾ slot and the FB was up to 74 mph with mid 2000- mid 2100 spin rates. The pitch showed some nice 2 seam action as well. He showed a nice clean delivery and the showed feel and confidence for both offspeed pitches as well. The breaking ball was well shaped at 68-69 mph and the change up showed late tumble at 69-70 mph. There will be more velocity to the FB as he develops physically over the next few years.  At the plate, he showed a mostly middle of the field approach with an even an even stance with the feet at the plate. The swing path was fairly level which resulted in numerous line drives to the middle of the field during his BP round. Handles the barrel very well and looks like a typical 2 hole type hitter. At SS, he showed nice lateral range and the glove worked very well out in front. Looked very natural on the backhand ball with a quick release on his throws. Could be a natural 2B
