Athletic with wiry strength. Metzker displayed athletic actions whereby size and strength increases will produce greater speed than his 7.68 60-yard dish would indicate. He took solid rounds of batting practice, showing an ability to use the whole field. During in game competition, he singled crisply up the middle twice. In his defensive evaluation, he had a clean round of ground balls, showing efficient footwork and throwing mechanics. Natural maturation accompanied by strength will improve range and stabilize defensive movement patterns.
Another talented underclassman, showed a good foundation on the mound. Mechanics were solid with good acceleration and fluidity in delivery. Overall arm strength and arm action was good with mainly a FB/CB mix. The FB topped at 79, reading mainly 75-78, with some life out of hand. CB,63-65, had good shape with 1/7 break with some swing and miss by the hitters. As Luke continues to develop and add strength, the 3/4 slot will provide a good FB/SL mix. Did not throw a change up so that will be the next pitch to add to his arsenal.
