New England Procase

5-foot-11, 165-pound, average athletic frame, longer neck squared off shoulders, with plenty of room for added weight. A right-handed hitting catcher, shows to have some twitchiness to him. At the plate, even feet, slightly wider than shoulder width, loose, movement to hands, with a flat setup. The swing is level, with barrel having life out front on contact. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 88 mph. The approach is more line drives to pull side. Defensively, a fast quick arm from behind the plate, clocked at 78 mph, had a pop time of 1.94-2.03. Stands up so slightly, has spring to his step, could stay down a tick longer. Showed well behind the plate catching bullpens, looked like he loves being back there, takes his craft serious.

Keeps flat barrel throughout the hitting zone. Stays balanced throughout the hitting zone. Consistent hard contact. Projects as a contact type hitter in college. Top exit velocity 86 MPH. Defensively- Sits back in a narrow stance. Quick actions behind the plate. Quick feet. Quick transfer. Quick release. Throws have some carry. Top throwing velocity was 76 MPH. Pop time ranged from 1.97-2.02.

ENY ASG (September 15, 2018)

Athletic, proportional build at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. Ran a 7.63 60 Yard Dash. Offensively - Wide, athletic stance with knee bend. Weight pre-shifted onto backside. Hands pulled back into strong hitting position. Uses toe-tap for timing before going into forward stride. Creates rotational power in swing with hips/core. Level barrel path that produced consistent line-drive contact. High finish with extension after contact. Defensively - Quick, compact actions behind the plate. Presents consistent target and receives ball in center of body. Gets out of crouch and gets ball into high, over the top throwing slot. Arm strength was 75 MPH and pop times were between 2.16-2.21.

June 25-27, 2018 (NYS Games)

60 Yard Dash: 7.69
Exit Velocity:
86
Positional Arm:
77
Pop-Time: 1.96-2.07

Slender build with room to continue to add size and strength. Wide base, soft glove, confident approach, high arm action, short take away and arm-action, fast release with a 1.96 pop time. Offensively, quick hands, high finish, low toe tap and leg lift, shoulder tilt and power hip movement. Smoaked a triple to left center in afternoon game at Binghamton University. Frame has room for physical gains. Next-level player.

Preseason - East (February 22, 2018)

Nicholas is a catcher in the class of 2020. Stands 5 feet 11 inches weighing 155 pounds, lean athletic build still has a few years to develop and grow as a player. Offensively- Stands open in the right side of the box with the bat rested on the shoulder. As the ball approaches Winslow uses a toe tap for timing. Uses his upper body strength to be quick to the ball. Swing is repetitive with a slight dip in the barrel through the zone. Uppercuts aggressive with visible bat-speed. Exit velo at 85 MPH. Defensively- stays low receiving the ball. Has quick feet with a quick transfer. Sets himself in line to throw down to second. Accuracy needs some work, throws over the top with clean transfer. Catcher velo was measured at 78 with a pop time of 2.00-2.09.

ENY All-Star Games (Sept. 17, 2018)

Winslow stands 5-foot-11, 150-pounds with a slender build with plenty room of physical gains to his frame. At the plate he uses a wide stance in the box, barrel balances on his shoulder prior to the pitch. Heel lift as a timing mechanism, hands load back with his body weight on back leg before driving forward. Short path to the ball with a mostly level barrel plane through contact, high effort. Long full extension, some power in his projection 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively behind the dish he uses a slight offset setup, large target with clean glove. He uses a quick transfers to a high release, mostly accurate to the bag throws with 2.01-2.08 pop times. Overall, the foundation for a next-level backstop are all present. Physical games this off-season will benefit Winslow.

Campus Series-Albany (July 18, 2017)

Winslow stands in at 5-foot-11, 145-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet just outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding the bat in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise in to stride forward while his hands move back slightly to get into the hitting position. Good lower body rotation getting his hips cleared and utilizes his whole-body frame within the swing. Shows quick hands to the hitting zone with a level barrel path throughout into a high two-handed finish. Demonstrated good plate coverage and the ability to hit to all fields during batting practice round. Swing is fluid and only will get better with added strength. Recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH. Defensively- Frames the baseball well with a quiet glove. Fluid throwing mechanics throwing to second with quick footwork and a good catchers arm swing. Throws downhill towards target and was accurate with throws. Blocks well keeping the ball in front and can get back up on the feet athletically. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 72 MPH and has a pop time range of 1.96-2.08.

Preseason All-State (February 20, 2017)

Winslow, a 2020 right-handed hitting catcher, stands at 5-foot-10 and weighs 140 pounds, ran a 7.80 60. Offensively- Starts with square lower half, some shift of weight to the back leg, with the hands above and in front of the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat is nearly perpendicular to the ground. Gets to the launch phase of the swing by elevating the lead foot, slight inward rotation of the knee, while the foot drives a moderate distance towards the pitcher while the hands are loaded slightly outside the back shoulder with the barrel of the bat getting 45-degrees to the ground. Hands stayed back and connected to the lower half during batting practice, showing a quick and compact hand path to the ball. Drove the ball well from the pull side line to the pull gap, getting quality hip rotation and drive from the back side. Recorded an exit velocity of 81 MPH, impressive for a 2020 grad at this point.  Defensively-   Worked from a square balanced lower half with the glove in front of the left knee and low in the zone. On throws to second base, transfers the ball quickly, from the center of the body, however will over rotate the shoulders when getting into the power position. The lead side gets away and moves horizontally from the power to release phase of the throw, causing the throwing arm to cast away. Throws showed good accuracy and will surely improve,  the arm velocity of 70 MPH as well as the top pop time of 2.15, as minor adjustments are made to create more extension on throws.
