The offers are pouring in for Saunders as a football player but he is showing he may have a future in this sport as well. Known for his 6.5 speed but the other parts of his game continue to improve. Arm will need to develop but the hit tool has made big time strides since we saw him last summer. Had a multi hit day and fit right in amongst the state’s top hitters.
7/10/18
Arguably the fastest player in the state put together another solid performance. A right-handed hitter that starts in a balanced stance. Uses a slight back load with hands during leg kick for timing, slightly downhill path to the baseball, offers a bit more strength than speed to hands. Line drive type guy with sneaky juice to pull side. Worked out in both the infield and outfield with a higher ceiling in the outfield. Obvious athleticism out there with signs of being able to stay in centerfield.
One of the better athletes in the 2022 class. Saunders has a physical frame with elite speed, running a 6.84 60-yard dash this winter. Speed is obvious in game, stealing/taking bases whenever he wants. In the outfield he tracks the ball well and has feel for the position. If arm comes along he should be able to stay at the centerfield position. At the plate, Kaden starts with a wide stance. He strides out with his lead foot and pulls his arms back into his load and possesses very good use of his bottom half with his swing. Bat looked electric through the zone at times. Approach fits the top of the lineup, showing the ability to work counts regularly.
3/11/18
Saunders has some rawness to his game but the natural tools are obvious. Frame is athletic/projectable at 5-foot-10, 140-pounds. Turned heads by running a 6.83 60-yard dash which was over a half a second faster than any other prospect in attendance. At the plate he has a simple approach mechanically, letting his above average strength and bat speed combination go to work. His long levers allow him to really get into the ball when he gets extended. Defensively he worked out in the outfield and the infield. Showed an average to above average skill set at both spots with a higher ceiling in the outfield.
A righty swinger that starts in a taller setup. Takes his hands back during his short stride. Path is level with developing bat speed. A line drive type guy with more pop to his pull side presently. Has much more juice in there as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently. In the infield he moves light on his feet approaching the baseball. Uses direct footwork and fields the ball out in front of his body. Tends to play from heels at times. Arm is loose and has enough strength for the position.
