Landry is another interesting two-way out of the Prospects organization, standing an athletic 6-foot, 165-pounds with long limbs. On the bump he has whippy arm movement with downward action from a high release point. His breaking ball tunnels well with the fastball, and the spiking curveball has potential to create some swing and miss with tough illusions to hitters in the box. In the field Landry got it up to 81mph with clean movements in his upper half. At the plate he has limited movement in his swing motion, with nothing extra going on outside of a slight leg lift in his load, timed with his natural swing torque. Landry had a solid round of swings with one of the top average exit velocities at the event.

Landry continued to show his upside on the mound during his second outing at Spring Training. He sat mostly 77-79 with some cut to it working downhill and attacking the zone. It’s a mature, physical frame with good mound presence. He mixes in a 2-plane CB and a CT with late break. There is a lot to like about Landry, we will have a close eye on him as there is plenty more velocity to come.

3/15/23

Landry was one of the more exciting, high upside arms we saw on Day 2 of Spring Training. The ‘27 eligible RHP touched 81 mph while comfortably sitting 78-80. The CB has depth that generates lots of S/M out of a ¾ arm slot. His quick arm creates life out of his hand that makes it tough on hitters to time him up. After a good first look today, he’ll be an intriguing follow as he continues to mature and add strength.

2/21/22

Landry, a 5-foot-11 155-pounds uncommitted 2027 RHP/1B for the Scarborough Stingers turned a lot of heads on the day. At first Landry has good size and quickness for the position, really picked it and definitely has the ability to be a wall at first. At the plate Landry had a lot of loud barrels throughout the round, sprayed the ball to all parts of the field. The setup was smooth and relaxed, and stayed loaded with good plate coverage. On the mound Landry showed a 3-pitch mix and pounded strikes throughout his bullpen. Had good leg extension behind his pitches with a smooth tempo to his delivery.
