The U of the Pacific commit, sets himself apart with his quick twitch hand speed: 26.9 and bat speed: 76.9 from the left side of the plate in generating a fast bat that handles velocity. With growing strength, an EV of 92.4, should jump exponentially as he gains his man strength. With a smooth stroke and discerning eye at the plate, Scholzen is also able to work counts and draw a 2 to 1 ratio of BB’s vs K’s. Scholzen is part of a bloodline of former college and professional baseball players in his extended family, as his father played in the Angels organization, one uncle (Jimmy) played in the Rays organization, as well as another uncle (Jeremy) played at Southern Utah University. Scholzen’s extended cousin is a Utah Valley U commit, Luke Iverson, the current Pine View HS catcher, while another extended cousin is a star softball player at College of Southern Idaho and lastly an immediate cousin was a standout women's basketball player at CSI and Dixie State. With two years left in HS baseball, look for even more progression to his game as he continues to mature.

Scholzen had another strong showing, during the workout phase. With one of the better mechanically sound swings in the state, regardless of class. After posting hand speed and bat speeds of 24.6 and 78.3 at the Future Games in GA, Scholzen posted 24 and 73.6 at the All-State Games w/an EV of 91.4. Defensively he surrounds the ball and creates solid angles to be in position to create a line to his target with soft hands and educated feet and enough arm for short stints at SS at the next level, but should settle in as an offensive 2B. Is a catalyst at the plate with a keen understanding of controlling the K zone, and shows abv avg pitch recognition.

A Future Games participant and had a really good workout late at night when most had gone home because of the rain. Grant defensively showed dance to his feet with educated and synced up feet to allow the glove to play out front and from the ground up. He shuffled and replaced his feet well in transferring the ball from the glove to the hand. He showed 78 mph arm velo and was on the money with his throws. The hands are QUICK and doesn’t close the glove and receives the ball like he’s playing with a paddle on his hand. Was the best INF I’ve seen him take as he has worked hard in this area. Offensively another one of the strong rounds during BP as he sprayed barreled balls on a line with consistency, from LCF to the RF corner. The swing is as smooth as anyone in the state not named Ryder Robinson or Fisher Ingersoll. The hand and bat speed on Blast, took one of the 2 largest jumps I’ve seen this past calendar year. Grant went from 19-21 mph hand speed to 24 in LakePoint and his bat speed went from 65-69 to a high of 78, while averaging 74! This was the difference in just a 6 week span. It was easy to tell by the eye test as his bat was flying through the zone. A solid strong 5-9 155, he has a very quick bat and had a bullet single up the middle mixed with a couple of walks and had a 10 pitch AB off a tough LHP, that with an open base at first and 2 outs, with a full count and looking CB, he stayed on a FB and hit a hard smash inside the 3B bag and down the line for an RBI 2B to extend the lead for Team Utah. Another invite to the inaugural West Coast Games. Is garnering quite a bit of D1 interest because of skills and baseball background and high baseball IQ.

Another strong game player with a baseball background and natural feel and instincts for the game. A high baseball IQ type, had a very good showing at the Top Prospect Games, as he had a couple of walks and a liner to RF, and with the ball in front, legged out a sliding 2B with a late throw. Playing both middle INF spots, he made several on the move plays with K’s across the diamond from SS. At 2B, he made a play coming in and to his left and glove flipped the ball to the 1B’man to get the runner at first. Now healthy after playing through a grade one hamstring strain in the spring, that turned into a much worse reoccurrence that shut him down half way through the region season, but was able to hit .314 while playing as a shell of himself. A Future Games invite and top 5 ranked player in his class, if he stays healthy this summer as he is now, he will continue to garner college interest that has been there since his freshman year.

A strong game player that’s the best pure hitter in the ‘23 class. A small lean, yet ripped athletic build w/proj size and strength as he matures. Pound for pound type strong. Shows a fluid smooth LH stroke, that’s performed at a high level vs older competition, in and out of state. A LHH middle INF’er with strong D1 interest from a handful of schools on the west coast over the past year. Baseball bloodlines, with his father a former MLB scout/MiLB player and his uncle a former MIF in the Rays system. A quick twitch energetic leadoff/2 hole hitter with an advanced approach to hit for his age. A LD hitter with quality takes, works a count, in looking for a FB, to spray barreled up balls line to line. At the Fall prospect ID, he showed a top 3 exit velo of 82.1 for his class and displayed top 5 hand speed. Showed educated feet with some dance and overall glove actions. Can pick and throw, while making the tough in between hop, a short hop and getting off accurate throws.

A 15 Yr old HS LH SS/2B that shows a lean toned ath build with wiry strength, playing for CBA Summit during the summer/fall. 508 145 that projects over the next 3-4 years to fill out and remind of Eric Sogard/Adam Frazier. A semi crouched balanced square stance with timing and solid separation from a slightly wider than shoulder width base. Gets into legs and generates bat speed with a short quick compact fluid stroke. A .429 hitter over 7 varsity games before the shutdown and hit .414 over the summer in 19U Legion. A 7.06/60 with added strength and maturity to give a 6.7 time in the future. Looks to steal bases and shows solid reads on the bases with instincts. Defensively toggles between SS/2B and likes 2B, yet starts for his varsity team at SS. Has actions/footwork and hands to stay on the dirt. The arm is fringe with proj to avg. High baseball IQ with steady interest and communications with many D1’s.

Talking with a number of schools for the last year +. His calling card is advanced defensive actions with educated feet and soft hands and makes the routine play and can leave his feet to make uncanny diving plays and bounce up to throw runners out. A sum of his parts type that has an advanced baseball IQ. The other thing he does is hit and has performed against competition at a high clip at 3-4 years above his class. A smooth efficient LH stroke that improved his EV from 82 to 85 and was in the top 5 Blast data for plane and plane efficiency, while also in the top 15 in distance max of 333. Just barrels balls to all fields on a line with an advanced approach to hit for his class. When breaking down by class, this is a bat that will continue to hit in his class for the next 3 years.
