Fastball flashed cutting action, 78-81 mph, touching 82 mph. Curveball sat 65-66 with 11/5 shape, ability to throw for strikes. Changeup has arm side run at 73 mph. Struck out three in two innings of action.

3/15/15- 5-foot-11, 165-pound, right-handed hitting RHP/3B. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short quick arm action. Some stiffness. Turns over rubber to load with an online delivery. Square landing with level shoulders throughout and some rhythm. Fastball showed late life at 78-81 mph. Curveball showed 11-5 shape at 64-66 mph. Threw changeup for strikes own in the zone with fastball armspeed at 69-72 mph. In the field has a short arm action from a high ¾ arm slot. Threw 77 mph across the infield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with average balance. Showed strength thru contact with 84 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.52.

7.22.14 - 5-foot-10, 155-pound right handed pitcher, medium frame, strong build. Delivery has regular effort, high ¾ slot, quick arm action, loose arm, smooth rhythm. Fastball is mostly straight, 76-80 mph, showed control and repeatability. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 59-60 mph. Changeup showed sinking action, 68-69 mph. DeSmet is a strong follow in the 2017 class, his quick arm and athletic strength should see added velocity down the road.
