NORTHERN CALIFORNIA - Our updated 2022 ranking was released the other day, with 100 players among that ranking. While many players in the ranking are already committed, there are plenty of uncommitted players. Here is a bit more on 9 of those players.

(Listed in order of their place in the ranking)

Lucas Kelly 3B / RHP / Sacred Heart Cathedral, CA / 2022

6-foot-3, 195-pounds, R/R - Listed as a SS on his HS roster, he's certainly capable. However, we see him profiling as a high average, power hitting 3rd baseman with well above average defensive tools. Also has enough on the mound to draw attention there as well. His field presence and quiet confidence are outstanding.

Raoul Fabian OF / California HS, CA / 2022

6-foot-0, 180-pounds, R/R - Dynamic talent with a well-rounded set of tools that play both offensively and defensively. Accurate arm with quick release, 82 mph from OF w/7.00 60-yard at Area Code UC tryout in July. Whippy bat, lively swing, all-field approach with exit velo approaching 90 mph. Talented young player.

Eli Gennis RHP / SS / DE LA SALLE HS, CA / 2022

5-foot-11, 175-pounds, R/R - Gennis is something potentially special, easy 84-88 mph, can really spin the curveball (69-73 mph), w/80 mph CHG as third pitch. The arm action is clean and the arm is strong. Good build and he still has the 'young' face. Competes w/confidence and his mound presence is magnetic for teammates.

Jaron Nevarez OF / LHP / San Ramon Valley HS, CA / 2022

5-foot-9, 165-pounds, L/L - Two-way talent who was off to a great start in 2020. Offensively he has the ability to hit from line to line, w/extra base hit ability. His barrel control very good and advanced feel to hit, given his age. FB inching toward mid-80s w/feel of zone, both SL & CB are good and has makings of a quality CHG.

Max Bernal 1B / LHP / Buchanan HS, CA / 2022

6-foot-1, 190-pounds, L/L - Two-way talent with potentially impact offensive abilities. Swing is smooth and powerful with all-field hitting ability. Power to the pull side shows up now and has ability to drive the ball to opposite field. Quality stuff on the mound, low-mid-80s w/ability to locate both CB and CHG. Good feel.

Griffen Sotomayor C / 3B / Turlock HS, CA / 2022

6-foot-0, 185-pounds, R/R - Stands out quite quickly in both showcase and game scenarios. Physicality is noticeable for sure, then easy to see the hitting tools with clear power potential (near 90 mph E/V). Has good C/T skills with arm strength that is nearing 80 mph. Pops 1.93-2.09 and he's a strong field general, leader.

NOTE (4/27/20) - Washington State commit

Logan Gibson OF / RHP / Modesto Christian HS, CA / 2022

5-foot-10, 150-pounds, R/R - Gibson is a pretty toolsy kid and has a style of play that draws eyes. Good runner w/6.99 60-yard that is a good bet to get below 6.90. Big arm is best present tool, up to 92 mph from OF. Ball comes off bat well (86 E/V) w/plenty of hand speed. FB up to 84 mph w/both CB and CHG. Fun to watch.

Anthony Martinez C / 1B / De La Salle HS, CA / 2022

6-foot-1, 190-pounds, L/R - (photo from June 2018, clearly has physically matured since then). Likely starting catcher DLS in 2021, he was hitting in the 3-hole this spring. Process and bat talent is present now, with feel for the barrel. Sees ball well, good timing, possesses hand strength and ability to hit quality pitching, both LHP and RHP.

Isaac Zaldivar RHP / C / Vanden HS, CA / 2022

5-foot-8, 160-pounds, R/R - Not exactly your prototypical pitcher body type, but was up to 87 mph at PBR CA State Games with swing/miss stuff up through zone. His CHG/SL combo will be solid as he develops. SL chance to be quite good. Arm accelerates through release, good power from back side. Solid C/T skills & was hitting .462 when season was paused.
