Top Prospect Chicago: Statistical Analysis

The Top Prospect Chicago took place on Thursday, June 15th at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Illinois. The event had over 50 of the top prospects from Illinois and Wisconsin  participate in a pro style workout in front of the PBR Scouting Staff. Today we start event analysis with stats story. A number of players stood out from the crowd. Ryan Howe (Prospect) posted top numbers in every event that he participated in: 60 yard dash (6.65), fastball velocity (86), exit velocity (94), and infield velocity (87). Similarly, Matthew Rozsypal (Lake Forest), followed suit, ranking in the top five in infield velocity (86) and exit velocity (94), while placing in the top 10 in the 60 (6.93).

Top 60 yard dash times
Some serious speed was on display, with 10 players managing to break the 7.00 sec mark. Howe set the pace with a smoldering fast 6.65.

Top fastball velocity
10 players were able to post fastballs of 85 mph or greater. The quartet of Jacob Newman (Glenbrook South), Andrew Hoffmann (Plainfield East), Antoine Kelly (Maine East), and Ari Gordon (Stevenson) ramped it up on the mound, posting event high of 87 mph.

Donovan Nanfeldt (Andrew) blew the field away with the only triple digit exit velocity on the day. In total, 12 players recorded exit velocities of 90 mph or greater.

Ryan Howe and Matthew Rozsypal took the power they exhibited at the plate and brought it with them to the field, logging the top infield velocities of 87 and 86 mph.

Brandon Bannon (Richard Burton) and Liam Oreskovich (Jacobs) posted the top pop times, each recording a 2.00. Bannon proved to be the most consistent, posting times between 2.00-2.07
