Class of 2018 Showcase: Top Overall Prospects

The Class of 2018 Showcase took place at the Max in McCook, IL on Sunday, October 16, 2016. The open event featured close to 100 uncommitted junior’s.

Following the event the PBR scouting staff compiled all of the notes from the workout and over the last week we broke down the event position by position. We began the analysis last week looking at the catchers in attendance. Today we conclude the event with the top overall prospects.

TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS

1. Ryan Vice, RHP, Lincoln-Way Central, 2018
Biggest winner from the event. Physically built at 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. Works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short, clean arm action. Works exclusively from the stretch. Tall and fall delivery with easy effort. Works in line with home plate with some rhythm and an athletic finish. Fastball was straight at 87-90 mph. Slider was erratic at 72-75 mph. Lengthens arm action on changeup at 78-80 mph.

 

2. Francois Castillo, OF/INF, Roberto Clemente, 2018
6-foot, 210-pound, solid lower half, strong multi-positional prospect. Defensively, worked out in the infield and outfield.....
