Inside The Illinois Rankings: 2019 Newcomers

By Andy Sroka

On Tuesday, we released an updated version of Illinois’ Class of 2019 rankings, expanding the list by 25 prospects to a top 200 overall. With an increase in ranked prospects in the state, there’s naturally going to be a group of names making their first-ever appearance on their state’s class rankings.

In all, 24 of the 200 prospects on the 2019 board have never appeared on a previous edition. Of that group, only one of the prospects is already committed to play at the next level (RHP Kyle Dixon; Carlinville; Southern Illinois), meaning the rest are still available in the final summer of their prep careers. While Dixon’s leap from unranked to No. 85, RHP Joe Glassey’s (Lakes Community) emergence has been even more profound. The righty busted through the ranks, up all the way to No. 22 in his debut on the board.
