Another top Class of 2014 prospect is off the board. Mike Papierski, a switch-hitting catcher from Lemont HS, has verbally committed to LSU.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Papierski has been earmarked as a top-level prospect since his freshman year at Lemont, and is currently ranked No. 7 in Illinois’ strong Class of 2014. He possesses power potential from both sides of the plate, in addition to arm strength behind the plate.

Papierski joins Lemont teammate, Jake Latz, in LSU’s 2014 recruiting class. Latz, a 6-foot-2 left-hander who's ranked No. 2 in Illinois and No. 5 overall, committed to the Tigers a month ago. LSU has been extremely active in the Midwest as of late. The Tigers also landed Missouri RHP Alex Lange (Lee’s Summit West HS, MO), who’s ranked No. 1 overall in the Class of 2014.
