Illinois Libertyville Preseason I.D.: Top Overall Prospects

By Drew Locascio
Illinois Scouting Director

On Sunday, February 23, the PBR Illinois team hosted its first-ever Libertyville Preseason I.D. showcase at the Libertyville Sports Complex where over 70 prospects participated in this open event.

Shortly after the event’s conclusion we posted an early analysis of the event with our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis pieces. We jump started our position-by-position breakdown by taking a dive into the catchers.

Today we conclude the analysis of the event with a look at the top overall prospects. At the top of the list is 2022 INF Casey Hintz (St. Viator). Hintz is an athletic, smooth defender with the tools to stick at shortstop moving forward and a simple right-handed swing with upside.

Right behind Hintz is 2021 RHP/OF Brady Wells (Libertyville). On the mound, Wells has a strong, easy arm and his stock will only increase as he continues to develop his secondary offerings. At the plate Wells creates easy bat speed, the ball jumps off his barrel and he ran a 7.03; well-above average given his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame.

Read on below for the Top-10 overall prospects from the event.
