BARRINGTON, IL – Barrington starter Ryan Loutos did not get off to the kind of start he was hoping to on Tuesday afternoon. Loutos came into the day having a dominating season so far for the 10-3 Broncos.
Right off the bat things looked normal Loutos as he struck out the first hitter of the game, but Tommy Wingen followed with a single then a walk to Tom Josten. After getting cleanup man Eric Bennes to strikeout, Loutos allowed another single to Zach Goodman to load the bases. With two strikes Loutos hung a curveball to Will McCabe, who doubled into the right centerfield gap to clear the bases. Fremd took a 3-0 lead before the Broncos set foot in the batters box.
The Broncos kept chipping away at the 3-0 lead first in the bottom of the first when lead off man Tyler Trojan came around to score on a wild pitch, after singling to start the inning. In the second Barrington added another run to make it 3-2 on an RBI sacrifice fly from Jeff Korus.
As the Broncos were chipping away on offense, Loutos settled in and dominated the next six innings. Over the final six frames Loutos allowed one walk, one infield single and struck out ten.
Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth Korus singled to start the inning, after the next two hitter were retired, Clark Elliot worked a walk to put two on for Tyler Acosta. Acosta smoked a line out to right field in his previous at bat, and this time blooped a two run single in front of a diving left fielder to give the Broncos the 4-3 lead.
Loutos did his thing in the top of the seventh striking out the side to finish the contest with 12 punch outs.
Barrington moves to 11-3 on the year as Fremd drops to 3-7.
Will Yorton went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for Barrington. In the top of the third Acosta ranged deep into the right centerfield gap and laid out to make diving catch for the first out of the inning.
