Preseason I.D. - Peoria: Statistical Analysis

The PBR Preseason I.D. - Peoria took place on Saturday, January 27 at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria, IL. This event featured over 90 prospects from all classes. Prospects participated in a pro-style workout in front of the PBR Illinois Scouting Staff. Today, we begin the event analysis with a stats story.

Seven prospects broke the 7.00-second mark in the 60 yard dash, led by middle infielder Ryan Vogel (Metamora, 2019), who posted an event best 6.74. Ryan St. Ledger (Edwards County, 2021) came in at 6.89, the best time for a member of the Class of 2020 or 2021.
Right-handed arms came out hot on the mound. Ryan Rhoda (Prairie Central, 2019) saved his best for last, as he pumped in a 90 mph fastball to end his bullpen session. A trio of arms topped out at 87, including 2020 Connor Aten (Galesburg).
Nathan Righi (Pekin, 2019) finds his name littered throughout the leaderboards (See: Fastball Velocity and Infield Velocity), but when it comes to exit velocity, he reigns supreme. Righi recorded an event best 98 mph exit velocity.
Our infield velocity leaderboard is surprisingly features prospects from the 2019 class through the 2021s. John Day (Dunlap, 2019) and Carson Richardson (Collinsville, 2020) are the co-leaders at 86 mph. Ben Hess (Charleston, 2021) rounds out our leaderboard at 82 mph.
Connor Aten (Galesburg, 2020) and Jack Shields (Peoria Notre Dame, 2020) were both clocked at 86 mph, good enough to share the top spot in outfield velocity.
The Class of 2020 showed well at the catcher position. Chase Mason (Washington, 2020) posted the top pop time at 2.03, the top pop range at 0.10 seconds, and the top catcher velocity at 78 mph. Connor Stephenson (Normal West, 2020) recorded the second best pop time of the day with a 2.06. Nick Sharp (Bloomington, 2020) shares the lead in catcher velocity with Mason.
