Rhino Scout Day: Statistical Analysis
October 5, 2021
On Saturday, September 30, the PBR Illinois staff held the first ever Rhino Scout Day event at the Rhino Sports Academy in Shorewood, Illinois. Roughly 40+ prospects from the Rhino Baseball program were in attendance.
Now, at the event’s conclusion, we’ll start to roll out several different content-related pieces from the day, starting with this statistical analysis. Below you’ll find which players led each statistical category from this event.
STAT STORY
+ MIF Carter Storti (Lemont) recently participated at the Underclass Trials - North showcase this past June and a quality showing there had him jump up into our updated rankings for the Illinois 2023 class. A strong 6-foot, 180-pound athlete, Storti paced the infield group in max throwing velocity and finished towards the top in max exit velocity, too. Storti hopped on the mound later and recorded the hardest fastball of the day, clocking his best bullet in at 84.32 mph.
+ 1B Cade Duffin (Oswego, 2023) oozes physicality inside a strong, sturdy 6-foot-3, 240-pound frame. We saw Duffin hammer a handful of baseballs throughout this calendar year and he continued to show that extremely advanced bat strength in BP at this event. Duffin recorded the hardest hit ball of the day by three ticks, squaring his best ball up at 99 mph, per TrackMan.
+ OF Wade Welke (Lockport, 2024) was the only player at the event with a sub-7.00 second in the 60-yard dash, registering the day’s fastest time on our lasers at 6.87 seconds. He’s a wiry left-handed hitter with thin levers that project and he’s clearly an above-average athlete for his age, too.
