Southern Wisconsin Open: Outfielder Analysis

By Wisconsin Scouting Staff

On Oct. 21, at STiKS Academy in Waukesha, Wis., the PBR Wisconsin team held its final showcase of 2018, the Southern Wisconsin Open. Around 60 prospects in the area made it out to the event, primarily representing the 2020 and 2021 classes. The showcase gave the area’s prospects a platform to perform in front of our staff one last time before heading into the offseason.

We’ll continue breaking down the event, position by position, moving forward with the day’s outfielders.

Let’s start by highlighting a sophomore within this group who broke into the first edition of Wisconsin’s Class of 2021 Rankings: Wilson Zuck (Appleton North). When we first released the 2021 rankings back in September, Zuck debuted as a top-10 prospect in the class. His advanced strength, especially for his age, his particularly present in the right-handed batter’s box, where he was just two ticks off the day’s leader in recorded exit velocity. His bat strength, bat speed, and arm strength are above-average already, further establishing Zuck as one of his class’ prospects to follow moving forward.

Junior Jacyk Uehling (South Milwaukee) was one of the livelier prospects in Waukesha last month. The South Milwaukee product ran the fastest 60-yard dash mark (6.83) at the event and was near the top of the leaderboard in outfield velocity as well. His athleticism plays especially well in the outfield and his overall speed should complement his spray-type profile from the left-handed batter’s box, too.

We have the complete reports on the aforementioned prospects below, as well as the write-ups on all 16 other infielders who took reps at the Southern Wisconsin Open last month. We previously published the Statistical Analysis from the event, which you can find here, in addition our breakdowns of the catchers and infielders in attendance from earlier this week. Keep an eye out tomorrow when we examine the day’s pitchers.
