Three more ranked Class of 2013 prospects made their college decisions recently:
Ryan Lidge, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound switching-hitting catcher from Barrington HS, has committed to Notre Dame. Over the spring and especially the summer, Lidge has seen his stock skyrocket. Currently ranked No. 23 in the Class of 2013, Lidge recently earned an invitation to the Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif.
Regynold Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 155-pound RHP from Marian Catholic HS, has committed to Missouri. Johnson did not see many innings as a junior for the Class 3A state champions, but he emerged this summer as a player to pay close attention to. At the Prep Baseball Report Top Prospect Showcase in June Johnson impressed with his 86-89 mph fastball, and a sharp 75-77 mph slider. Johnson, currently ranked No. 55 in the class, also showed well behind the plate, but no doubt his future is on the mound.
Andrew Frankenreider, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound RHP from Dunlap HS, has committed to Northern Illinois University. Frankenreider was one of the most impressive pitchers at the PBR Top Prospect Showcase in June. Coming from a 3/4 arm slot, he opened eyes with an easy 85-88 mph fastball with late arm side life. Frankenreider continued to impress with his secondary pitches: His 75 mph curveball showed sharp two-plane break, late and down in the zone. It has the potential to be a swing and miss pitch at the next level. He also showcased a 73-75 mph changeup with late fade.
