Scouting Report on Coughlin

2.7.16 Super 60 - Texas Christian recruit. 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame, strong, physically mature build, developed lower half. A two-way prospect, he came to the Super 60 as a pitcher only, and it showed in his bullpen. The first pitch out of Coughlin’s hand was 94 mph, and sat 90-93 with his fastball the rest of the way. His fastball had arm-side life, thrown for consistent strikes. Showed four-pitch feel, with his cutter and changeup being quality offerings. His cutter has potential to be a dominant pitch. He threw his first one at 87 mph, and settled in at 83-84. His changeup ranged between 77-79 with sink down in the zone. Coughlin also flashed a 69-73 curveball. Utilizes strong lower half well; simple, repeatable delivery, some effort involved, works out a high-3/4 slot with a clean, long arm action. While he also is a talented switch-hitting third baseman, Coughlin proved his future at the next level is on the mound.
