Our Unsigned Senior Analysis moves on to pitching today. Our top ten emerged from over 35 pitchers in attendance. Amongst the top prospects includes, present stuff, projectable arms, pitch-ability left-handers and more.

Top Pitching Prospects

1. Cameron Robinson, OF/RHP, Champaign Central, 2018
High upside frame, long and lean build, 6-foot-4, 190-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, open stance, weight balanced, short stride, works linear to front foot. Path is short to the baseball, has bat speed, front foot hitter, contact is hard occasional backspin, 88 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.16 runner in the 60. Defensively plays through the baseball easy action, long exchange. Arm action is short and over the top, carries at 87 mph from the outfield. Similar arm action on the mound, drop and drive style, athletic finish. Fastball is straight, showed control, 83-86 mph. Slider is occasionally sharp, 11/5 shape, control for zone, 69-71 mph. Changeup has feel, 75-76 mph.

2. Wes Sommers, RHP, Appleton North, 2018
6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, average build, sloped shoulders. Delivery works with effort, gets off line at times, loses head to glove side. Arm action is long and live, high ¾ slot. Fastball has straight life through the zone, sat 84-86 mph, touched 87 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, flashed tight spin, 67-71 mph. Changeup sinks, near fastball arm speed, 76-78 mph.

3. Mack Malczewski, RHP, Prospect, 2018
6-foot-4, 212-pound right-handed pitcher, large frame with strength. Stretch only delivery, works uptempo with high front side and some effort, drop and drive style, finishes to first base side. Arm action is loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, slightly runs to arm side, heavy fell, stays around the zone, sat 83-84 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 72-74 mph. Changeup sinks with feel , showed as best secondary pitch, 70-73 mph.

4. Trey Korbel, RHP, Lincoln-Way Central, 2018
6-foot-1, 192-pound right-handed pitcher, average build. Delivery repeats, works quick with feel, level shoulders and squared landingm easy effort. Arm action is short and loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball runs to arm side, control of the zone, 81-83 mph, touched 84 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, gradual action with feel, 63-67 mph. Changeup sinks, 73-75 mph, thrown near fastball arm speed.

5. Ben Mazzulla, LHP, St. Joseph, 2018
5-foot-10, 160-pound left-handed pitcher, small athletic frame. Delivery repeats, tall and fall type, loads lift to back side, coiled at top, lands square and stays on line and balanced. Arm action is loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball runs to arm side, 78-80 mph, showed ability to command. Curveball has 1/7 shape, had bite with spin and shape, 67-69 mph. Changeup fades to arm side, 67-70 mph. Slider has shorter break, 68-69 mph.

6. Ruben Hurtado, RHP/OF, Lemont, 2018
6-foot-1, 160-pound, long, high-waisted two-way prospect. Projects best on the mound. Right-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, smooth rhythm, stays on-line and front foot lands closed. Long, loose, quick arm action out of a high ¾ window. Fastball, run and sink action at times, works down in the zone, sat mostly 79-80 mph. Curveball, thrown for strikes, 11/5 shape, 67-70 mph. Changeup, fastball arm speed at times, down in the zone, sat mostly 73-75 mph, topped at 77 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, open setup, stride gets back to even, long bat path and 73 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, works through the baseball, steady hands, clean transfer, loose arm and throws topped at 81 mph. 7.37 runner in the 60, laser-timed.

7. Jeff Morton, OF/LHP, Mundelein, 2018
Recent Triton JC commit. 5-foot-11, 185-pound, strong, left/left two-way prospect. Ran a 7.25 laser-timed 60. At the plate, balanced setup, short stride and good balance through contact. Stays short to the ball, strong wrists, fast bat and makes a lot of hard contact; 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. In the outfield, flashes natural outfield actions, fluid footwork, body control and a clean exchange. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, throws carry and topped at 84 mph. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, works on-line, smooth rhythm, lands square and regular effort throughout. Short, loose arm action from a high ¾ window. Fastball, occasional run and sink, 77-80 mph, touched 82. Curveball, 1/7 shape, firm, short break, 68-71 mph. Changeup, fade action, 72-74 mph.

8. Ben Seaman, INF/RHP, West Bend East, 2018
6-foot-2, 160 pounds middle infielder/pitcher, lanky, athletic build, with square shoulders. Clean and easy delivery on the mound, fastball sat between 79-81, maxed at 82. Threw from a high ¾ arm angle, short arm action, and easy effort. Landed in line, finished mostly square, occasionally open. Curveball had 11/5 shape with gradual break, sat between 67-70 mph. Changeup averaged 72 mph with some fade, and near fastball arm speed. Right-handed hitter, begins tall and balanced, small leg kick. Average bat speed on a level plane. Recorded 80 mph exit velocity off the tee. Easy, steady defender with short, loose arm action from an arm slot that varied between high and regular ¾. Athletic arm action and body control, 79 mph across the infield. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash.

9. Ben Steiner, 3B/RHP, Montini Catholic, 2018
5-foot-10, 175-pound strong two-way prospect. Defensively, short, athletic arm action, slot varied between over-the-top and high ¾, throws occasionally carried at 79 mph across the infield. Offensively, Balanced setup, short leg lift stride, present bat speed, 90 mph exit velocity. On the mound, short arm action, high ¾ slot, some effort. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands square. Fastball, flashed slight run, 79-82. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 65-69. Changeup, firm, some sink, 75-77.

10. Hunter Johnson, INF/RHP, St. Viator, 2018
A lean, athletic 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, middle infielder and pitcher. Right-handed hitter with balanced stance, long stride. Demonstrated a short swing path, line drive approach that was fluid throughout. Average to slightly above-average bat speed, 88 mph exit velocity off the tee. Fluid footwork with clean, quick exchanges defensively. Arm action is short, and over the top with steady body control. Throws 80 mph across the infield. Righty on the mound and throws from an over-the-top arm angle, average arm speed. Toe lift to balance point with average effort leads to some rhythm and helps land in line. Straight fastball averages between 81-83 mph. Slider acts more like a cutter with 10/4 break, sits in the 70-74 range. Occasionally slows arm action down during changeup, averages 71 mph. Ran a 7.26 60-yard dash.

Jalen Acevedo, OF/RHP, Roberto Clemente, 2018
6-foot, 185-pound, two-way prospect with a well-proportioned, solid build. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, repeatable, tall and fall delivery with some effort throughout. Quick arm action from an over-the-top slot. Fastball, gets downhill at times, creates angle, sat 81-82 mph, touched 83. Curveball, 12/6 shape, 58-64 mph. Changeup, slows arm, has feel, occasional sink, 64-67 mph. At the plate, right-handed hitter, open setup, leg-kick timing trigger and uphill bat path. Current bat strength; 88 mph exit velocity from a tee. In the outfield, deliberate fielder, crow hop transfer, long, over-the-top arm action and throws topped at 81 mph. 7.50 runner in the 60.

Zach Asik, OF/LHP, Wisconsin Lutheran (WI), 2018
5-foot-11, 175-pound, athletically built, left/left, two-way prospect. At the plate, balanced setup, short stride and maintains balance through contact. Present bat speed, strong, hard contact, gap-to-gap approach and 86 mph exit velocity. In the outfield, plays through the baseball, sure hands, clean transfer, loose arm action, high ¾ slot and throws clocked at 83 mph. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, tall and fall delivery, stays on-line, lands square and regular effort throughout. Long arm action out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball thrown for strikes, 76-77 mph. Curveball 1/7 shape, 63-65 mph. Changeup sat 69-72 mph.

Tyler Baysingar, RHP, Brimfield, 2018
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed pitcher, thin lanky frame. Stays tall throughout delivery, lets front side fall down the hill to heel toe landing. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot. Fastball has slight cut, 75-77 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 61-66 mph. Changeup is down 70-73 mph.

John Brei, 3B/RHP, Dekalb, 2018
6-foot, 175-pound, athletically built, corner infielder and right-handed pitcher. Right-handed hitter, open setup, pre-pitch load and slight leg-kick trigger. Occasional bat speed, lift in swing, 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. On the infield, short arm action, high ¾ slot, throws topped at 69 mph. Ran a 7.27 laser-timed 60. Right-handed pitcher, full wind up, works across his body with some effort throughout. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 74-76 mph, touched 78. Curveball, 68-69 mph. Slider, drops arm slot, ranged between 66-69 mph.

Nicolas Bridgeford, RHP, Whitney Young, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher, lanky frame, sloped shoulders. Shoulders stay level, rotational delivery, works from low ¾ slot, long arm action, slide step out of the stretch. Fastball has run and sink to arm side, 78-80 mph. Curveball showed control, can drop for strikes, 65-68 mph, 11/5 shape. Changeup sat 68-71 mph.

Keaton Bubala, RHP, Latin, 2018
6-foot-4, 195-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic frame. Tall and fall delivery, some effort, heel toe landing. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot. Fastball has slight arm side action, 79-81 mph, topped at 82 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, flashed sharp action, 72-74 mph, above average offering. Straight changeup, feel for the zone, 76-77 mph.

James Coker, RHP, Lakeview, 2018
6-foot, 250-pound right-handed pitcher. Side step rocker into tall balance position, lands square. Arm works out of short window, high ¾ slot. Fastball ranged 75-77 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 61-63 mph. Changeup is thrown near fastball arm speed, ranged 66-73 mph.

Mitchell Cole, LHP, New Berlin Eisenhower (WI), 2018
5-foot-11, 210-pound left-handed pitcher. Delivery is on line, lands square, loose arm action from high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight, sat 76-79 mph, topped at 80 mph. 12/6 curveball, 57-62 mph. Changeup is 68-70 mph, slight fade. Slider is similar to curveball, 60-62 mph.

Matthew Eldredge, LHP, Marinette, 2018
6-foot-4, 205-pound left-handed pitcher, average build. Regular effort delivery works slightly across body with squared/closed toe landing, occasionally open front side. Arm action is long and loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight, sat 75-78 mph, topped at 81 mph. Breaking ball rolls on 12/6 plane, 63-66 mph. Good feel for changeup, stays around the zone, fading action at 64-67 mph.

John Fink, OF/LHP, Jerseyville, 2018
6-foot, 180-pound, well-proportioned, two-way prospect. At the plate, left-handed hitter, balanced, narrow setup, early short stride and simple approach. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, clean transfer, throws out of a high ¾ slot and throws topped at 79 mph. 7.05 runner in the 60. On the mound, left-handed pitcher, slow, deliberate wind up and regular effort throughout. Long arm action out of a high ¾ slot. Fastball, works mostly straight, 71-73 mph, topped at 74. Curveball sat 56-57 mph. Changeup, straight action, 67-71 mph.

Isaiah Gaines, RHP/OF, Homewood-Flossmoor, 2018
5-foot-8, 145-pound, two-way prospect. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, tall and fall, methodical, repeatable delivery, stays on-line and lands square. Arm works short and over-the-top. Fastball works straight, sat 78-81 mph, topped at 82. Curveball 12/6 shape, short break, 69-73 mph. Changeup, thrown for strikes, 74-76 mph. Ran a 7.15 laser-timed 60. At the plate, right-handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride and uphill bat path; 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. In the outfield, steady hands, clean exchange, over-the-top arm action, throws carry and topped out at 85 mph.

Joshua Gaines, OF/RHP, Homewood-Flossmoor, 2018
5-foot-8, 162-pound, two-way prospect. At the plate, right-handed hitter, wide setup, short stride and minimal wasted movement. Registered an 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. In the outfield, clean exchange, works through the baseball at times, short, over-the-top arm actions, throws flash carry and topped at 85 mph. 7.54 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, methodical, tall and fall delivery, works slightly across his body and lands closed. Fastball, thrown for strikes, ranged 78-81 mph, sat mostly 80-81. Curveball 11/5 shape, 68-71 mph. Changeup, occasional arm-side-run, around the zone, 76-78 mph.

Jake Garvey, OF/RHP, Riverside-Brookfield, 2018
5-foot-10, 160-pound, two-way prospect. At the plate, open, tall setup, loads pre-pitch, stride gets back to even and average balance throughout. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Defensively, in the outfield, steady hands, long arm action, high ¾ slot, throws topped at 76 mph. 7.65 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, long arm action, high ¾ slot with some effort in his delivery. Fastball works straight, 69-70 mph. Curveball, thrown for strikes, 12/6 shape, 58-61 mph. Changeup, around the zone, 63-65 mph.

Nolan Graf, RHP, Loyola Academy, 2018
5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed pitcher, lean athletic build. Full windup, tall and fall delivery, stays level and online, squared landing to balanced finish. Arm action is loose, average arm speed, high ¾ slot. Fastball has slight running action, 79-80 mph, control of the zone. Curveball showed feel, 66-69 mph, 11/5 shape. Fastball arm action on changeup, 72-73 mph.

Jeremy Heer, RHP, Riverside-Brookfield, 2018
5-foot-11, 200-pound right-handed pitcher, stocky build. Drop and drive delivery with effort, low short lift. Arm action is short, ¾ slot. Fastball plays at 73-75 mph topped at 76 mph, slight run and sink. Curveball at 62-64 mph. Changeup flashed fade, 65-69 mph.

Collin Kingsbury, RHP, Morris, 2018
Extra-large frame, 6-foot-7, 225-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall balance point, falls into closed landing, uses slide step in stretch. Arm action is long, methodical, high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, topped at 80 mph, sat 75-78 mph. Curveball has gradual action, 11/5 shape, 63-65 mph. Changeup slightly fades, 69-73 mph.

James Matheson, C/RHP, Slinger (WI), 2018
6-foot-1, 195-pound two-way player. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, leg kick stride, average balance with effort. Path has some length, flashed bat strength, 87 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively posted pop times at 2.26-2.47. Arm played at 74 mph out of the crouch. On the mound delivery starts with a forward rocker step, rotational type delivery, works slightly across his body finishing to first base side. Arm action works from a high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, 76-78 mph. Slider is gradual on 10/4 plane, 70-72 mph. Curveball has feel, 63-65 mph, 11/5 shape.

Riley Mindock, RHP, Kennedy, 2018
6-foot-2, 152-pound right-handed pitcher, thin build. Rotational delivery, heel-toe landing, regular effort. Long arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball has slight arm side run, 71-73 mph, topped at 76 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 58-62 mph. Changeup fades, 63-66 mph.

Chris Murphy, LHP, Jacksonville, 2018
6-foot-1, 150-pound left-handed pitcher, thin wiry frame. Down-tempo delivery with long levers, squared landing, regular effort. Arm action is long, high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 73-74 mph, slight arm side run. Curveball has 1/7 shape, gradual action, 61-62 mph. Changeup fades to arm side, near fastball arm speed, 68-71 mph.

Cameron Nahf,  RHP/1B, Shoreland Lutheran (WI), 2018
6-foot-2, 195-pound two-way player, solid build with wide shoulders. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, crouches into load, long stride. Strong hands at the plate, body creates bat speed, 82 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively works deliberately around the bag, arm action is long, high ¾ slot, 77 mph across the diamond. 7.7 runner in the 60. On the mound arm action is long and firm, ¾ slot, works from the stretch only. Fastball topped at 75 mph, sat 72-74 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 60-62 mph. Changeup sinks, slight fade, 60-63 mph.

Julian Payne, OF/RHP, St. Laurence, 2018
5-foot-5, 155-pound, two-way prospect. Offensively, left-handed hitter, balanced setup, line-drive approach and 75 mph exit velocity. Defensively, in the outfield, reliable hands, plays through the baseball, long arm action from an over-the-top slot, topped at 73 mph. 7.56 runner in the 60. On the mound, right-handed pitcher, arm works long from a high ¾ slot and regular effort in his delivery. Fastball worked straight, sat 72-74 mph, touched 75. Curveball, 12/6 shape, 57-59 mph. Changeup straight action, sat 63-65 mph.

Seth Quick, RHP, Montini Catholic, 2018
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic shape. Repeats delivery with feel for three pitches, works on line slide steps out of the stretch. Arm action is clean loose arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight, showed feel for the zone, topped at 79 mph, sits 77-78 mph. Slider is short on 11/5 plane, 69-72 mph. Feel for changeup, fastball arm speed, 73-76 mph.

Lamond Sims, RHP, Harlan, 2018
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed pitcher, average build. Low lifted balance point with hesitation at the top, squared landing. Arm action is long and firm, high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight, 75-78 mph. Curveball is gradual with short break, 60-62 mph. Changeup is 61-64 mph.

Devin Smith, RHP, Lincoln-Way Central, 2018
6-foot, 175-pound right-handed pitcher, lean lanky frame. Delivery is deceptive, knees and elbows with some effort. Arm action is long high ¾ slot. Fastball is straight, 76-79 mph. Slider is aggressive with some feel, 69 mph. Changeup played 73-74 mph.

Zachary Stirnaman, SS/RHP, Dunlap, 2018
5-foot-10, 150-pound, right-handed hitting two-way prospect. Defensively, long arm action, ¾ slot, quick release, accurate on some, 74 mph across the infield. Offensively, open setup, loads back, leg kick timing-trigger, long barrel path, flashed bat speed, 78 exit velocity. On the mound, high ¾ arm slot, short arm action, some effort and rhythm, works on-line, lands closed. Fastball, mostly straight, kept in the zone, 73-75, touched 77. Curveball, 12/6 shape, gradual break, near fastball arm speed, 59-62. Changeup, has feel for, breaking ball type action, 64-68. Ran a 7.88 60.

Danny Tharp, OF/RHP, Waterloo, 2018
6-foot-2, 170-pound two-way player, lean athletic frame. Right-handed hitter, open stance, toe tap stride, fair balance throughout. Path is long and works uphill, 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. In the outfield arm played long from a high ¾ slot, flashed carry, 84 mph. Moves through the baseball, clean exchange, corner outfield profile. 7.34 runner in the 60. Arm plays similar on the mound, Fastball showed natural cutting action, 78-79 mph, touched 80 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, feel for the zone, 65-70 mph. Straight changeup showed feel, 71-73 mph. Flashed slider at 69-70 mph.

Jeremiah Williams, 2B/RHP, T.F. North, 2018
5-foot-10, 165-pound, athletic two-way prospect. Defensively, short arm action, over-the-top slot, accurate on some throws. Loose, athletic footwork, clean on exchanges, soft hands, body control, plays through the ball athletically, 77 mph across the infield. Offensively, balanced setup, loads back, leg lift stride. Gap-to-gap type hitter, long barrel path, fluid rhythm, flashed bat speed, 87 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.50 60. On the mound, high ¾ arm slot, short, quick, loose arm action. Drop and drive delivery, smooth rhythm, shoulders stay level, lands closed. Fastball, mostly straight, threw for strikes, 77-79 mph. Curveball, 11/5 shape, gadual break, 66-68. Changeup, near fastball arm speed, flashed fade, showed feel for, 71-74 mph.

Beau Wills, RHP/2B, Coal City, 2018
5-foot-8, 165-pound, two-way prospect. Defensively, long arm action, arm slot varies between ¾ and side, soft hands at times, quick on exchanges, 74 mph across the infield. Offensively, open setup, leg kick timing trigger, long, uphill barrel path, 83 mph exit velocity. Ran a 7.92 60. On the mound, long, loose arm action, sidearm slot, quick arm speed, smooth rhythm, closed landing, falls off the mound to finish. Fastball, heavy sink action, commanded, 71-74 mph. Slider, 10/4 shape, showed feel for, 63-66. Changeup, fastball arm speed, fade action, 65-67.
