Over the course of the high school season and early part of June, we’ve seen an incredible amount of baseball. More specifically, we’ve seen meteoric rises from many prospects from all over the state, which has led to significant shakeups in our updated and expanded Class of 2014 rankings.

This crop of incoming seniors is remarkably deep in talent. Our updated Top 200 rankings feature players from all corners of the state with high levels of ability. Several familiar names still populate the top 10, though there’s a shakeup in order.

RHP Jake Godfrey (Providence Catholic HS) takes the No. 1 spot in the 2014 rankings, followed by LHP Jake Latz (Lemont HS), RHP Brad Bass (Lincoln-Way Central HS) and OF Darius Day (Simeon HS). Three high-level catchers follow, led by Mitch Trees (Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin HS), Evan Skoug (Libertyville HS) and Michael Papierski (Lemont HS). SS Rahman Williams (Morgan Park HS), RHP Tanner Houck (Collinsville HS) and OF Laren Eustace (Batavia HS) round out the top 10.

Skoug and Eustace – two of the hottest 2014 prospects in Illinois –are the only new names in the top 10. There are many more big risers over the last three months, none more so than RHP Ryan Nutof (South Elgin HS), RHP Hunter Hart (St. Joseph-Ogden HS) and RHP Keith Rogalla (Oak Park-River Forest HS).

Other fast-rising prospects include: RHP Sean Leland (Sandburg HS), RHP Will Kincanon (Riverside-Brookfield HS), LHP Trevor Henderson (Plainfield South HS), RHP Tyler Hasper (Waubonsie Valley HS), C Nathan Haacker (Sycamore HS), RHP Jordan Fedro (Prospect HS), OF Cody Carroll (Glenbrook South HS), RHP Colin Holdermann (Bradley-Bourbannais HS), SS Collin Ridout (Johnsburg HS), and INF Joe Duncan (Highland HS), to name a few.
