Top-10 Profiles of 2023: No. 8 Callaghan O'Connor

Coming in at No. 8 on the list for this year’s most-viewed profiles is RHP/INF Callaghan O’Connor (Bishop McNamara, 2026). No stranger to our staff, O’Connor initially caught our eye before he even made it to high school, earning a spot on our Junior Future Games team back in 2022. He has been a mainstay towards the top of our rankings ever since, now sitting at No. 2 in the state.

The Notre Dame commit is hard to miss at a towering 6-foot-6, 195-pounds, and he possesses some of the highest upside in the state. Already equipped with a fastball that reaches into the upper-80s, O’Connor looks to have the makings of the next power arm in the state of Illinois. Despite having extremely long limbs, O’Connor moves extraordinarily well for his size and has shown the ability to repeat his delivery in-game - while going to his aforementioned fastball and a sharp curveball with out-pitch potential to miss barrels. He has also shown some intrigue with the bat in past looks, delivering a heavy barrel from the right side of the dish.

O’Connor will surely be a fun player to watch develop throughout his high school career, and we look forward to seeing what this coming season has in store for him.

Scouting Report

10/06/23

INF/RHP Callaghan O’Connor (Bishop McNamara, 2026; Notre Dame commit) continues to make strides as an exciting two-way prospect. O’Connor is listed at 6-foot-6, 195-pounds with long levers. Although he did not hop on the mound this weekend, O’Connor had a quality showing on both sides of the ball as a position player. The right-handed hitter controls his levers well throughout the swing, and stays through the ball well. While playing first-base, O’Connor showcased quality actions around the bag. Currently ranked No. 2 in the state, and No. 55 in the country.

Junior Futures Games: Starting the game on the mound was Callaghan O’Connor, who pitched four innings and finished with eight strikeouts and topped out at 86 mph. His arm is clean, loose, and projectable. His frame projects to throw in the high 90s one day.
