Mac N Seitz Black Sox Scout Day: 2020-2021 Outfielder's Analysis

Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Mac N Seitz Black Sox Scout Day on Saturday, February 24 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Over seventy players in the 2021 to 2018 classes participated. 

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on the ScoutPlus dashboard. Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running times, velocities, and videos.  Today will take a closer look at the outfielders from the event. Players are listed in alphabetical order below.

This group of outfielders included three exit velos of 87 mph with one exit velo at 90-plus mph. Two outfielders had 80 mph or better positional velocity.   Here is a look at the 2020-2021 outfielders from the Mac N Seitz Scout Day.

2021-2020 Outfielders

Ryan Eglich OF / RHP / Blue Springs, MO / 2020

Englich is a 5-foot-10 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He Rana 4.68 home to first and has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, raise bat angle off shoulder with in line stride, smooth load, swing produced gap to gap line drives.  In the outfield, 74 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, long arm circle, clean exchanges, short stop and throw after catch to create momentum.

Tristen Everard OF / 2B / Blue Valley South West, KS / 2021

Everard is a slender 6-foot 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.37 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, hands walk away from in line stride, short stride, body stays under control, level path with high finish in hands, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, high three quarters arm slot, quick catch and throw, fluid exchanges on time with fluid footwork, slender frame still developing with room to add strength, 71 mph positional velocity.

Trevor Gray OF / LHP / Raymore-Peculiar, MO / 2020

Gray is a 6-foot-1 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.46 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, ope stance with smooth load to back side, slight hand load, short stride, slightly closed, level path, swing produced mostly middle of the field line drives during hitting evals.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, fluid momentum through the catch, quick transfer, high three quarters arm slot, loose arm action, quick to the ball, long and lean frame with projection. 

Elijah Gross LHP / OF / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2020

Gross is a 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 20202 class.  He ran a 4.59 home to first and has an 86 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin and slightly open stance, some hand load with short stride, hands control the barrel, loose hands with feel for the barrel, mostly middle to pull side contact.  In the outfield, throws left, smooth actions with clean transfer, 76 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, athletic actions with athletic frame.

Jaylon Johnson OF / LHP / Blue Springs South, MO / 2020

Johnson is a 6-foot-1 178-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.47 home to first and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slides stride foot to back foot to load, slightly closed stride, hands raise to load, aggressive and quick hands with level path, gap to gap contact with consistent line drives.  In the outfield, 78 mph positional velocity, throws left, small crow hop to gain momentum after the catch, clean transfer with fluid movements.

Josh Klein OF / 2B / Lee's Summit West, MO / 2020

Klein is a 6-foot 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.16 home to first and has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance with smooth weight shift load and quiet hands, leg lift and in line stride, loose hands with acceleration and bat whip, short to contact, gap to gap line drive during hitting evals.  In the outfield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, works behind the ball the ball and through the catch, clean exchanges with fluid footwork, slender frame that projects with continued development. 

Alex Lucas OF / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2020

Lucas is a 6-foot 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.79 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance with pre-pitch rhythm in hands, early short stride,  raises bat off should to get bat angle, two-piece swing, hands control the bat, loose and quick bat speed, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 75 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick to the ball, clean exchange, gains ground with feet after the catch, body stays under control working through the ball, fluid actions

Jackson Miller OF / RHP / De Soto , KS / 2021

Miller is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.12 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall set up, toe tap to short stride, quiet hands with high finish, middle of the field contact during hitting evaluations.  In the outfield, loose high three quarters arms lot, maintains momentum through the catch, smooth and controlled actions, clean exchanges, athletic build, 77 mph positional velocity.

Hunter Milstead LHP / OF / Olathe South , KS / 2020

Milstead is a 6-foot 150-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.12 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, wide stance, quick tempo with leg lift to slightly open stride, stays in lower half, feel for the barrel, swing produced middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  In the outfield, 71 mph positional velocity, over the top release, gains ground with feet after the catch, fluid actions to the ball with clean exchange and transfer, clean arm action. 

Austin Rosetta OF / De Soto, KS / 2021

Rosetta is a 6-foot-2 170-pound right-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.41 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, thin set up, minimal load with no wasted movement in hands, slight leg lift, short in line stride, high finish in hands, gap to gap approach.  In the outfield, 72 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, maintains momentum through the ball, clean transfer and throws working behind the ball and through the catch.

Jake Sawyer RHP / OF / Blue Valley West, KS / 2021

Sawyer is a 5-foot-11 155-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.63 home to first and has a 79 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, controlled leg lift, slight arm bar, in line stride, level path, middle to pull side contact during hitting evals.  In the outfield, short over the top arm slot, 75 mph positional velocity, quick transfer and throw one time with footwork, clean exchanges .

Camron Shumate OF / 1B / Blue Springs South , MO / 2020

Shumate is a well built 5-foot-11 192-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Missouri’s 2020 class.  He ran a 4.42 home to first and has a 95 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth rocking motion with weight shift against back side, minimal hand movement, soft in line stride, quick hands with fast bat speed, swing produced consistent hard contact to middle and pull side, showed power.  In the outfield, loose and quick arm speed, over the top arm slot, arm works, controlled and fluid to the ball, clean exchanges, plays through the ball, 85 mph positional velocity.

Grant Strong OF / LHP / Olathe East, KS / 2021

Strong is a strong and athletic 6-foot-3 180-pound left-handed hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.38 home to first and has an 87 mph exit velocity. At the plate, hits from an athletic and strong position, no wasted movement in load, short in line stride, hands produce quick bat speed, level path, hard solid contact to middle and pull side with range in his swing and feel for the barrel, body stays under control.  In the outfield, 83 mph positional velocity, quick and aggressive to the ball, gains ground after the catch, transfer and athletic footwork in sync, high three quarters arm slot, throws have carry, arm works, strong build.

Tye Wood OF / LHP / Gardner Edgerton, KS / 2021

Wood is an athletic 5-foot-10 switch-hitting outfielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.47 home to first and has an exit velocity of 87 mph. At the plate, starts slightly open, smooth pre-pitch rhythm in hands, minimal hand load, smooth weight shift to back side, similar swing from both sides, slightly more closed off from left side during stride, gap to gap approach, loose hands from the right side, level swing path, hands control the barrel, solid consistent line drives from both sides.  In the outfield, 76 mph positional velocity, throws left, smooth and athletic footwork, maintains momentum through the catch, clean exchanges on time with footwork, easy arm action, high three quarters arm slot.
