Prep Baseball Report - Missouri/Kansas held the Unsigned Prospect Showcase at Hoover Field in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, November 4.  Nearly 60 players in the 2018 and 2019 classes participated from Missouri and Kansas. 

Player profiles have been updated with profile picture, running time, throwing velocities and videos.  Today, we will break down the middle infielders from the event, and in the days to come we will break down the event position-by-position. Players are listed alphabetically below.

MIDDLE INFIELDERS

Travis Bilson-Bullard 2B / 3B / Rose hill, KS / 2018

Bilson-Bullard is 5-foot-11 220-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2018 class.  He ran a 8.19 60 and a 4.64 home to first.  He has a 72 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts slightly open with thin stance, early and short stride, body stays under control during swing, slightly lift in bat path, middle to pull side contact during hitting evaluations. On the infield, 67 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, quick transfer and throw, fluid to the ball, fields ball in position ready to throw. 

Jack Boland SS / 2B / CBC, MO / 2019

Boland is a 5-foot-10 173-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.63 60 and a 4.62 one to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, aggressive swing, open stance, high leg kick, in line stride, quiet hands, attacks the ball, swing produced mostly pull side contact, occasional power.  On the infield, 80 mph positional velocity, over the top release, gains ground after the catch, fluid to the ball, soft hands with clean exchange.

Kyle Davis SS / OF / Park Hill, MO / 2019

Davis is an athletically built 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.52 60 and a 4.40 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, tall and open stance, smooth pre-swing rhythm in hands, short stride, loose hands generation bat whip, showed feel for the barrel, gap to gap line drives.  On the infield, 76 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, plays through the ball, clean exchange with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Alex Epp 2B / SS / Maize South, KS / 2019

Epp is a 6-foot 165-pound left-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class. He ran a  7.13 60 and a 4.30 home to first.  He has an 85 mph exit velocity. At the plate,  starts in an open and crouched position, hands separate from stride, level path, middle of the field contact, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, 81 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, long arm circle, quick to the ball, fluid glove to hand transfer, plays through he catch, mostly accurate throws. 

Jason Jakubec SS / 2B / Kearney, MO / 2019

Jakubec is a long legged 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.57 60 and a 4.52 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, minimal load with no wasted movement, in line stride, loose hands with high finish, gap to gap approach.  On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, throws with a three quarters arm slot, mostly accurate throws, fluid footwork to the ball working through the catch, clean transfer. 

Tayler Mahoney SS / OF / Olathe Northwest, KS / 2019

Mahoney is a lean and long levered 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.25 60 and 4.26 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, slightly closed set up, loads in back side with toe touch, mostly pull to middle line drives during batting practice, flashed pull side power. On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity, over the top release, long arm swing, controlled actions, soft hands, smooth footwork tot he ball, momentum through the catch, mostly accurate throws. 

Donovan Meloy 2B / SS / Staley , MO / 2019

Meloy is a lean and long 6-foot-1 165-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.15 60 and a 4.50 home to first.  He has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, controlled leg kick, in line stride, level path, quick bat speed, stays on ball after contact, consistent gap to gap line drives, feel for the barrel, flashed pull side power.  On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw, short over the top release, stays under control with actions, smooth feet on time with clean exchange, mostly accurate throws. 

Daniel Newbury SS / 2B / Winnetonka, MO / 2018

Newbury is a strong and durable 5-foot-7 184-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 7.34 60 and a 4.62 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, quiet and efficient load, short in line stride, quick and loose hands, body stays under control, showed power to the pull gap, loud contact to middle and pull side during hitting evaluations.  On the infield, 79 mph positional velocity, over the top release, long arm circle, quick feet to the ball, clean exchange with momentum after the catch, mostly accurate throws.

Carsen Pracht SS / RHP / Bishop Carroll, KS / 2019

Pracht is a long and lean 6-foot 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.25 60 and a 4.25 home to first.  He has an 83 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, starts slightly open, smooth load into back side, reverse toe tap, in line stride, hands manage the bat, level bat path, consistent gap to gap line drives during hitting evaluations.  On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity, short over the top release, fields ball out front in athletic position, controlled action with fluid momentum through the catch, feet and hands work together, mostly accurate throws with carry.

Max Pretz 2B / RHP / Staley, MO / 2019

Pertz is a 5-foot-9 150-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.63 60 and a 4.63 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance, smooth pre-swing rhythm, lower half load, controlled leg lift, controlled swing with level path, mostly middle to pull side contact during hitting evaluations.  On the infield, 74 mph positional velocity, short over the top release, quick catch and throws, gains ground after the catch, fluid footwork to the ball on time with exchange, soft hands, athletic fielding positon. mostly accurate throws.

Bobby Rivera 2B / OF / Blue Springs South, MO / 2018

Rivera is a 5-foot-8 140-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.91 60 and a 4.20 home to first.  He has an 89 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, slightly closed in stride, no wasted movement in load, aggressive bat speed, level through the zone, consistent gap to gap line drives, aggressive swing with occasional power. On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, quick feet with quick release, over the top, short arm swing, soft hands, aggressive to the ball, made all plays cleanly during defensive evaluations, mostly accurate throws.

Malik Stevenson SS / 2B / Park Hill , MO / 2018

Stevenson is a 5-foot-9 175-pound left-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2018 class.  He ran a 6.85 60 and a 4.21 home to first.  He has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load to back side, toe tap, aggressive to the ball with hands, level path, hands create quick bat speed, body stays under control, simple and repeatable.  On the infield, 78 mph positional velocity, athletic actions, quick but under control, high three quarters release, footwork allows for timing in exchange and throw, mostly accurate throws, flashing carry.

Dylan Swihart OF / 2B / Clay Center , KS / 2019

Swihart is a long and lean 6-foot 135-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.76 60 and a 4.51 home to first.  He has a 73 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, balanced stance with no wasted movement in load, short stride, hands work inside the ball, middle to oppo contact, controlled swing, hands manage the bat. On the infield, 68 mph positional velocity, over the top release, fluid footwork to the ball, works through the catch, clean transfer, made all plays cleanly, fields ball out front, mostly accurate throws.

Tanner Twillman RHP / 2B / Olathe East High School, KS / 2019

Twillman is a long levered 5-foot-11 150-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Kansas’ 2019 class.  He ran a 7.56 60 and a 4.68 home to first.  He has an 84 mph exit velocity. At the plate, open stance, smooth load to back side, quiet hands, in line stride, hands control the bat head, level path, feel for the barrel, gap to gap line drives, repeats.  On the infield, 75 mph positional velocity, quick catch and throw, feet and hands work together, smooth and under control, over the top release, mostly accurate throws.

Willie Trafton OF / 2B / Lees Summit West, MO / 2019

Trafton is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.50 60 and a 4.44 home to first.  He has an 82 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, reverse toe tap, fluid rhythm, loose hands, level path, gap to gap line drives, simple and repeatable swing. On the infield, 68 mph positional velocity, high three quarters release, quick to the ball, soft hands, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws.

Jacob Wilson SS / RHP / Staley, MO / 2019

Wilson is a strong and well built 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.46 60 and a 4.39 home to first.  He has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load into back side, minimal hand movement, accelerated swing, quick hands, consistent solid middle to pull side contact in hitting evaluations, feel for the barrel, has pull side power.  On the infield, 83 mph positional velocity, strong and athletic actions, over the top releasee, fluid footwork to the ball, plays through the catch, feet and exchange in sync, accurate throws with carry.

Tanner Yeisley OF / 2B / Lees Summit North, MO / 2019

Yeisley is a 5-foot-8 175-pound right-handed hitting second baseman in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.34 60 and a 4.35 home to first.  He has a 79 mph exit velocity.  At the plate, open stance, control leg kick, hands separated from body, level path, gap to gap approach. On the infield, 74 mph positional velocity, over the top release, fluid feet to the ball, gains ground after the catch, clean exchange, mostly accurate throws.

Isaac Yung SS / 2B / Marshall , MO / 2019

Yung is an athletically built 6-foot-1 176-pound right-handed hitting shortstop in Missouri’s 2019 class.  He ran a 7.53 60 and a 4.51 home to first.  He has an 88 mph exit velocity. At the plate, simple and repeatable, balanced stance, controlled weight shit to back side to load, quiet hands, accelerated swing, level path, swing produced mostly middle to pull side line drives during hitting evaluations, loose hands.  On the infield, 77 mph positional velocity, works around ball and through the catch, high three quarters releasee, soft hands, clean exchange, fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws, some with carry.
